Last we heard about Bubba Nosferatu: Curse of the She Vampires, Ron “Hellboy” Perlman had signed on to play Elvis Presley, a role which was originally played by b-movie king Bruce Campbell in Bubba Ho Tep. But that was way back in October 2008! Today, we spoke with Perlman about his role as Brother Samuel in The Mutant Chronicles also starring Thomas Jane now on VOD and in select theaters on April 24th and we couldn’t help but ask about his upcoming hunka’-hunka’-burnin’-love role as “the king” in Don Coscarelli’s long awaited sequel. It’s been 7 years since the original Bubba Ho Tep and apparently Perlman and crew plan on shooting the anticipated flick very soon for a release in 2011! Hit the jump to see what Perlman had to say...
You’ve signed on for the long anticipated Bubba Nosferatu. Is the film still on track?
“It’s a follow-up to Bubba Ho Tep. Don Coscarelli made that wonderful cult film and Bruce Campbell played Elvis. This is a follow-up to that. Bruce, for one reason or another decided that he didn’t want to go on with the character and they asked if I would and I definitely would. It is on track and with any help from the gods and the elements we’ll be shooting that thing next fall.”
