It was an exciting Monday night out in front of the Mann Chinese Theater for the premiere of Rob Zombie's Halloween 2. I reunited with my Maniacs Director Tim Sullivan, along with cast members Kathryn Le (China Rose) and Christopher McDaniel, the new Rufus (Mayor Buckman's romantically confused hunk of a son!).

We walked the red carpet, said hello to fans, and talked shop with fellow fearmakers from the horror genre. We all came out to support Rob, Sherri, Tyler and all the cast and crew, who did an incredible job on the film. Rob is quite a filmmaker, Tim's favorite contemporary writer/director. The film was both brutal and morbidly poetic, typical of Rob, not to mention scary as Hell.

Sitting sandwiched in between Tim and Chris, clutching both their arms, Kathryn was frightened out of her mind. She later confessed to me how she loves to make horror films, but is too scared to watch them, and that I better not tell anyone! (Okay, I won't. Promise. : ) After the movie we all walked over to the party at Mood nightclub. The last time I was there was for my Playboy pictorial party, sweet memories. It was packed to the walls, with Rob Zombie music blasting over the stereo. Luckily, Rob spotted Tim in the crowd and pulled him into the VIP area. Micky Dolenz from The Monkees was there (who was in Rob's first Halloween). Tim went nuts, talking him up, telling him how he named Pleasant Valley in Maniacs after the Monkees song, "Pleasant Valley Sunday". Never knew Tim was a closet Monkees fanatic! We all took pictures with Rob, congratulating him on yet another job well done.

Like Tim now faces with our film, Rob only had three months of post-production on H2. Rob said he and Sherri were looking forward to a nice long rest in their new home in Connecticut. Rest for Rob Zombie means finishing up his new album and going on tour. Count us in.

On the way out, Kathryn gathered the courage to take a picture with Tyler Mane -- Michael Myers himself. Standing between him, Tim and Chris, she looked like Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Ah, good times. Best of luck, Rob, on Friday's release. This is one you don't want to miss, so make sure to check it out. Bring someone you can squeeze.
