Horror Fans That Tweet Together, Scream Together

PARANORMAL ACTIVITY

Paranormal Activity should have gone the way of most independent horror movies:  straight to DVD.  It had everything against it—unknown actors, a tiny budget, and worst of all, an original concept.  But something happened—something huge—that's giving it an opportunity to thrive and compete with the box office's big-budget horror remakes.  That something? You.

You now have the power to tell Hollywood what you want out of your horror films.  More gore?  Less torture?  More 80s-style slashers?  Sites like Facebook and Twitter are your direct line of communication to the Movie Powerhouses That Be, and we promise you—they're listening.  And so are we.

We love you guys, and one of my favorite things about this job is getting to hear your take on the genre.  Whether it's about Guillermo's latest creature feature or how awesome ‘Trick ‘r Treat' was, I love chatting (and sometimes debating) the latest films, and there's no one I'd rather get movie recommendations from than a fellow horror fan.  That's why if you're only watching our shows and movies on VOD or on FEARnet.com, you're not getting the full FEARnet experience.  Join us in our Facebook and Twitter communities and talk to us; we want to hear from you!

We recently started hosting parties on our Facebook page so that horror junkies can connect with each other at one place and time.  Never been to a Facebook party?  We're having one tonight at 6:30 pm EST/3:30 pm PST.  Stop by to answer horror trivia questions, win FEARnet prize packs, and talk about anything- and everything-horror.  After all, whether you're showing off your horror IQ at a FEARnet party, rallying on the web for a scary movie's release, or watching that scary movie in the dark beside your closest friends, horror is most fun when experienced with other people.

So what do you guys think?  If horror lives and dies by word of mouth, how do you feel about having such a strong role in a movie's survival?  Comment below, or tweet @FEARnet and tell us your thoughts.  Horror is in your hands.
