If it's Halloween, it must be... Paranormal Activity?

Yes, the story that topped entertainment headlines last weekend was how the Little-Horror-Movie-That-Could chugged its way into the box office's #1 spot.  And while it's definitely cool that this indie film is getting so much exposure, what may be even more exciting is how many of you are seeing horror this Halloween season: half of the top 10 movies are currently genre flicks, and this weekend they garnered $54 million, versus last year's $32.

It's definitely proven to be a good year for the genre, and it's not over yet what with The Box, The Fourth Kind, and New Moon on the horizon.  But alas, the arrival of the holiday season means the influx of Oscar contenders and films for the family.  Get your fill of horror while it's still available, and don't worry - FEARnet will be there to help you brave the cold until the release of Daybreakers in January.

So what are your plans for Halloween?  Mine include a Fear Clinic screening and party (DJ-ed by Alexandra Richards—I'm so excited) and stopping by the Greenwich Village parade.  I'd also like to see The House of the Devil, which is being released in New York , LA, and Austin tomorrow, and which Variety called "the best '80s babysitter-in-peril movie never made." Doesn't that sound cool?

Have you seen all the genre films that are currently in theaters?  Which one was your favorite?  Are you happy about Paranormal Activity winning last weekend's box office or do you think Saw VI was more deserving?
