After last week's massive infusion of all things Jason-related, you're probably looking for a little something new from the horror shelves. And this week you're in luck! Not only do we get a tongue-in-cheek and amusingly self-referential Bruce Campbell in My Name is Bruce (complete with extra goodies, of course), but we're also treated to some true-blue horror flicks.

Red Mist (previously known as Freakdog) is one that has me interested, mainly because it comes from the guy who directed Shrooms. I didn't love that movie, but clearly I liked it enough to remember the name Paddy Breathnatch. So that's saying something, right? Expect a full review of this DVD very soon at this very website, and we'll also be reviewing the "Steven Seagal vs. Vampires" epic Against the Dark AND the ensemble remake known as The Lodger -- so let's move on to the other discs for now.

Fans of horror anthologies on the small screen will want to check out Friday the 13th: The Series Volume 2 and/or Tales from the Darkside Season 1 -- although I'd buy the latter and (maybe) rent the former. Also from TV are a pair of Discovery Channel "A Haunting" episodes. That's surefire Netflix queue material, if you ask me.

In the indie obscurity department we have Otto, or Up with Dead People, which (I believe) is a gay-theme zombie movie that I missed at SXSW last year, and something called Dorothy Mills, which has one of the creepiest-looking kids I've ever seen on its DVD cover. Yikes. Apparently Variety called it "a contemporary take on The Exorcist," which might be accurate but it's not exactly a compliment. Then there's Red Victoria, which describes itself as "a horror film of epic proportions," which is either clever or stupid. I'll have to see the movie to find out.

So between last week's Friday the 13th explosion and this week's random goodies, we should have enough to keep us busy until next week -- and I can name at least four intriguing horror flicks that hit the shelves NEXT week.
