DVD releases are generally pretty skimpy during a "holiday week," and of course that trickles down to the horror shelves as well. Nothing too exciting this final Tuesday of May, but there are (at least) a few titles that seem worthy of the Netflix treatment.
Ambition -- A British indie thriller about a group of old friends reuniting for blackmail and murder. Or something. I think. Other random titles I know nothing about: Beneath the Flesh and (hehe) Gothkill. Cool title.
Carnivorous -- For those who've been waiting for DMX to star in a killer snake movie, I have good news.
The Devil's Tomb -- Cuba Gooding Jr., Ron Perlman, Ray Winstone, Henry Rollins, and Taryn Manning star in a tale of missing archaeologists, ancient crypts, and a whole lot of sand. But you don't often get a cast like this one ... in a flick directed by Sean Connery's son.
Lost Treasure of the Grand Canyon -- Michael Shanks and Shannen Doherty star in a Sci-Fi Channel flick from the guys who brought you The Fallen Ones and Sands of Oblivion. Can't wait!
Worth noting: Code Red is releasing a rather interesting pair of double features this week, provided you're into '70s / '80s schlock like I am: One disc offers Don't Go in the Woods (1981) and The Forest (1982), while the other delivers Mark of the Witch (1970) and Devil Times Five (1974). Of the two options, I'd definitely opt for the latter.
Next week: Three underwater monster movies! Yes!
