How Closely Did You Watch?

episode 5

In Fear Clinic, the jeopardy for the characters is established when they become increasingly uncertain if they are confronting their fears made real inside or outside the Fear Chamber.  In a nutshell, their animated fears become so terrifyingly real that they blur the lines between what is real and imagined.

For example, Brett realizes that the hallucinations of his "insane dead mom" - who's trying to finish the job of drowning him - extend outside the Fear Chamber, thus establishing that the hallucinations are not confined to the Fear Chamber.

In the second episode, Susan succumbs to being pulled into the darkness by the "dark creature" (btw, a “creature” whose origin would be revealed in potential future episodes).

In episode three, Jackie, while believing she's still inside the Fear Chamber, thinks that to be cured she must carve out the spider larvae as she can't "feel anything" -- only to realize she's really and truly butchering her pretty self.

As for Ajax—well, he's really up shit creek when his Misophobia manifests physically despite his confusion of what's real or imagined. This sets up a later reveal and a rule about the Fear Chamber even more terrifying - yet to come in, you guessed it, potential future episodes.

If you watch the episodes really, really closely there's enough visual information allowing you to determine if the characters are outside or inside the Fear Chamber.

So here's a question for all of you: given the information provided in episodes 1-4, is Jonte inside or outside the Fear Chamber when he's encountering his dead brother and friends?  Basically, do you think he lives or dies and why or why not?  This isn't a test, btw.

Disclaimer:  The answer will not be posted unless there's...well, you know the answer.  But we at FEARnet would love to see what you have to say, and why.  And remember, your fears are only as real as you make them.

Keep the faith,
Aaron R. Drane
