Who's ready for some star-crossed vampire romance -- yes, again -- in the form of Twilight manga?

This March you'll have to find yet more shelf space next to your hardbound Twilight Saga collections, DVDs, Blu-rays (and that Edward Cullen doll we know you have) when the very first Twilight graphic novel hits stores. Created with the official involvement of author Stephenie Meyer herself, Twilight: The Graphic Novel Vol.1 will integrate selected prose from Meyer's novel and black-and-white illustrations "with color interspersed throughout," resulting in what promises to be a fresh visual take on a familiar (but beloved) story.

The graphic novel was first announced last year at Comic-Con by North American manga label Yen Press (who also have a Gossip Girl manga cooking) and, according to Publisher's Weekly, will be released initially in a first run of 350,000 copies. Korean illustrator Young Kim is at the helm. shaping the novel's visual style, which looks to be a good medium for Bella's simultaneous internal and external monologues (check out EW's exclusive panel image of the biology class scene for a sample).

(What's also interesting about the release is that it appears to be technically conceived specifically as a manhwa, or Korean-styled manga, but it remains to be seen whether or not Twilight fans are mindful of the difference.)

In addition to the cover art above, check out the sample panel, sans dialogue, below --  released last July for an idea of what to expect. Twilight: the Graphic Novel Vol. 1 will be in stores March 16, 2010. (Volume 2 TBA.)
