Some of you might know me. I sing in a band called POWERMAN 5000 and I've crossed this country too many times to count (not to mention Japan, South Korea, Canada and most of Europe). I'd be willing to bet that I've played a show in your town, or at least passed through it getting to the next town.
I used to say that being in a band was as close as I could get to being a super hero and I still feel that way. It's a life of secret identities and other worldly moments. I've sold two million records, directed music videos, shared the stage with Metallica, Manson, Ozzy and countless other bands. I've gone bowling with Kid Rock and been punched in the eye by Phil Anselmo. Pretty cool shit and I feel like I'm just getting started.
The funny part is that it all began because of a love of movies (comics too). In particular Sci Fi and Horror. Ya see, I'm not a musician. In fact to this day I can't read a note of music. What I am is a child of pop culture, a kid that grew up filling his head with useless knowledge. I was glued to the TV all day and watched inappropriate movies at an inappropriate age. I had seen the Exorcist, Texas Chainsaw Massacre and A Clockwork Orange multiple times by the time I was ten. I had no direction but could recite dialog from Jaws like nobody's business. Me and my brother forced my parents to take us to Star Trek conventions and buy us a bunch of crap. Needless to say we weren't like the other kids and caught a lot of shit for it.
At the age of fourteen or so I discovered punk rock. The Ramones, the Clash, the Pistols! It changed my life and added to the amount of shit I caught on a daily basis. A punk rocker who had seen Star Wars a hundred times! Jesus, why couldn't I just like baseball?!
Anyway, fast forward. It all came together, I beat the system! I used all that useless info to create something cool and inspire others along the way. Not to mention make a living as well. The point is, I will always feel most comfortable among the freaks, geeks and weirdos. That's why I'm so excited to be a part of FEARnet.
In my two short FEARnet adventures so far I've hung with the likes of Sam Jackson, Frank Miller, Tura Satana and Toby Hooper. Pretty cool shit and I'm definitely just getting started!
This blog will be a place for me to talk about whatever. I'll keep you up to date on my travels. Whether I'm covering a convention for FEARnet , rocking the stage with my band or just sitting around watching a kick-ass movie, this is where I'll talk about it.
