REPO! The Genetic Sushi Party

I got a call from the FEARnet hotline that there was a pre screening
party for Repo! The Genetic Opera. The party was at Sushi Dan's in
Hollywood. Now, I can't say I have ever been a huge fan of opera, but
I do love me some sushi. So, I hopped in the car with Powerman 5000
guitarist Velkro and headed over.

We arrived on time, which in LA is early, so there weren't too many
people there. Though I was confidant that Paris Hilton would be there
any minute. If not Paris, then at least Bill Mosley.

As I waited for the beautiful people to show up I tried to find the
free food and drinks. Turns out there was no free food and drinks!
Don't these people know who I am? I mean really. I guess they are
waiting for Paris before they roll out the spread. That's cool, I'll
wait too.

A handful of us mingled. Director, Darren Bousman was there as well as
the dudes who wrote the music for the film and a whole bunch of Betty
Page look a likes. Struck up a conversation with a guy who wrote the
Grudge 3. He was real cool, but honestly I didn't know there was a
Grudge 2!

Paris?

At this point, an earlier showing of Repo! was letting out and the
people who saw the film seemed to really like it. A bunch of kids were
dressed as characters from the movie. I asked a couple of goth chicks
if they liked it and they said, "it was awesome". I asked why it was
awesome and they said, "I don't know, it just is". Who needs Roger
Ebert, right!

At this point I'm convinced that there will be no free grub... and I'm
starving!! People are starting to line up for the next show and I
figure I better as well. Only problem is I was supposed to buy a
ticket! Huh? Don't these people understand the power of FEARnet? I
should have had a special aisle roped off for myself. Right?

Where's Bill Mosley? He'll get me in!

Oh well, I guess I'll catch the flick some other time. All in all it
was a fun night filled with a lot of nice folks that love horror.

As the last of the hangers on dispersed, me and Velkro split and
headed to Burbank for some food.
