After Dark Horrorfest Party
Jumped in the new Mini Cooper and slid through the streets of Hollywood to the Cabana Club and the After Dark Horrorfest Party. This was a bash to not only celebrate the latest 8 Films to Die for festival but to crown the new Miss Horrorfest for 2009!
I rolled in at about 8pm and the party was in full swing. Complementary shots of Absinthe were being devoured by the crowd as trailers for the latest batch of After Dark films played on screen.
I ran into the reigning Miss Horrorfest, Mistress Malice, immediately. She seemed somewhat relieved to be passing the crown over tonight, though I did detect a hint of sadness. I tried to cheer her up by assuring her that the title of Miss Horrorfest was not unlike the title of President of the United States. No matter who is in office or how much time passes you will always be a president, and so Malice shall always be Miss Horrorfest. They can never take that away from you. She contemplated this deep thought for a moment and then proceeded to tell me about her topless scene in The Butterfly Effect PT. 3. Sweet!
More people started to show up. Writers, directors, musicians, actors and Cory Haim filled the room as we got closer to the big moment.
Malice jumped on stage in her red rubber dress to bring up the Miss Horrorfest finalists. There they were in all their horrifying glory, Demon, Saffron, Victim, Agoniya, Moe, Larry, Curly. You could cut the tension with a knife. I couldn't believe I was here to witness such a historic event. The room was spinning with excitement or maybe that was the Absinthe.
Then, it was announced. The winner is... Victim!!
The crowd went wild. I 'd say they made the right choice.
