A couple of friends recently brought up a great topic of movie discussion. Actually, to be more specific, movie trailer discussion.
We have all had this happen. You are at the movies sitting through the previews or online checking out trailers and suddenly there it is! The greatest movie ever! Something so spectacular, so engaging, so mesmerizing, you swear you will be first in line at midnight when this masterpiece hits theaters!
The trailer has sucked you in!
Through the fine art of crafty editing, marketing manipulation and a super deep voice over saying stuff like, "imagine a world where anything can happen." it has also successfully sucked twelve bucks out of your pocket opening weekend.
Have you ever been duped by a trailer? Been convinced something is going to be awesome only to find out too late that it is a load of crap?
Or what about movie trailers that misrepresent the film to get you in the theater?
I mean really, shouldn't they have just titled Marley & Me, "prepare to be super bummed out cause the dog dies in the end"? Actually, I think that was the translation when they released it in Japan.
So, have at it...
What movie trailers made you waste your money?
