One week down on the tour and so far every night has been rocking!
It is extra cool to hit the road around Halloween. Things are always a little bit stranger. Lots of costumes, make up and bloody faces in the crowd! Not sure if all the blood is fake, but that's not my concern.
OK, so after reading all of your suggestions, consulting my panel of experts and plugging all of the info into the FEARnet super computer, I am happy to announce the official nominees for the 2009 SPIDER AWARDS!!

These past few weeks were jam packed with movies, events and other fun stuff! Must be the Halloween season cause it seems like we've been doubling up on all things scary here at FEARnet.
It all started with a trip to NYC at the top of the month. I was asked to host this awesome little series we are doing called Streets of Fear. I provide ins and outs to the clips that explore haunted streets all around america. Great stuff to watch with the lights out! A handful of the videos are already up on the site so make sure you check them out.
Day one was shooting our "super villain" story.
We step into the story at the end of an epic battle between good and evil. Evil goes down hard and we are witnessing the death of our super villain ( Jonathan Schaech). He removes his helmet for one last breath of air and we are sucked into his brain. His life flashes before his eyes, represented of course by POWERMAN 5000.
What do robots with guitars, the guy from That Thing You Do, the director of Laid To Rest, and the director of photography from Halloween 2 all have in common? Well, the new Powerman 5000 video of course!
On October 6th POWERMAN 5000 will be releasing our newest album, 'Somewhere on the Other Side of Nowhere'!
I'm so excited about these tunes!

Ok, so you all have been pouring in with great nominations!
Now that Halloween 2 and The Final Destination have hit theaters, you have more to consider. Not to mention, Sorority Row is on the way.
I am adding a few more categories, so have at it!
Hit the premiere for Halloween II on Monday night. It is an unrelenting, uncompromising assault packed with powerful performances. I urge you to go see it. You will leave the theater exhausted.
Though, I'm not here to review the movie. Honestly, I'd rather focus on the bigger, more important thing going on that night... the after party!!
A few blogs back I said that I was going start my own awards. Well, I wasn't kidding.
Announcing the the first annual Spider Awards!! Don't laugh, in 10 years this shit could be big!!
Here's how this works... Anyone who leaves a comment is officially on my nominating committee. I will also consult a few industry luminaries of my choice and the homeless guy that sleeps at the bus stop on Hollywood way. Though, ultimately I am judge, jury and executioner! (they are the Spider awards, after all).
Anyway, I want you to leave comments nominating your favorites. We are nominating films from 2009 of course, though I will allow films from Nov/Dec of 2008. Any films released through Oct 31st 2009 will be eligible. Official Nominees will be announced sometime in November 2009. Got it? Good.
OK, over the course of many blogs we will compile our categories and nominees.
So, let's start with the big ones...
BEST HORROR FILM OF 2009
BEST DIRECTOR/HORROR FILM 2009
BEST SCREENPLAY/HORROR FILM 2009
BEST LEAD ACTOR IN A HORROR FILM 2009
BEST LEAD ACTRESS IN A HORROR FILM 2009

Comic Con was insane. I was there for four days and can't begin to tell you everything I did. Of course you can see some of what I did here on FEARnet, but the videos don't scratch the surface. Sure, I talked to childhood hero, Mark Hammill a.k.a. Luke Skywalker. I moderated the FEARnet Fear Clinic panel featuring Robert Englund. I interviewed everyone from Denzel Washington to Zack Snyder to my own brother. I went to a bunch of great parties and hung out with countless friends, fans and strangers. Though, I must say, one of the most important moments happened when it was all over.
Not long ago my bass player confessed his disdain for The Beatles.
He just doesn't like them.
The Beatles are one of those bands that you are supposed to love and if you don't people think you are crazy. I happen to like The Beatles, but there is a lot of music that I am supposed to love that I don't. I respect it, understand why others love it, but for whatever reason it just doesn't move me. Hendrix, Neil Young, Tool... eh.
So, I started thinking about movies. Movies that everyone pretty much agrees are amazing. Movies that people hype endlessly to me and then I watch them I just don't feel the same.
One big one that comes to mind is The Dark Knight. Gasp!
So I was sent to cover the 35th annual Saturn Awards. The Saturn Awards is an event that honors the best in Sci Fi, Horror and other genre stuff. It is a small event that sometimes attracts big names. In the past guys like Spielberg have even showed up. This year they were presenting Leonard Nimoy with a lifetime achievement award. Needless to say I was pretty excited to get a chance to talk to the guy.
The red carpet set up was tiny. A hand full of photographers and a total of three video crews, FEARnet being one of them. This was a far cry from some of the bigger movie premieres I have been to where you are penned together like cattle to the slaughter and can't be guaranteed an interview with anyone. Truth be told, those events can be fun but a little impersonal. I was kind of excited to be at an event that was more intimate.
