TEXAS is the reason...

So I’m off to Austin, Texas this weekend for The South by Southwest Film Festival.  This is hands down one of the best film festivals in the world.  It is a true representation of what is going on in independent film and the atmosphere is completely free of all the pretentious bullshit that usually accompanies most other major film festivals.

I'm going to SXSW for a couple of reasons....

No, my movie is not playing there (for the first time ever) but I am one of the festival’s "mentors.”  I’m not really sure what that means…But I THINK what I will be doing is sitting in a room full of very accomplished people in the film industry pretending that I know what I'm talking about when asked for advice from festival attendees.  No big deal.

Another reason I’m going is because a lot of great films are playing there this year that I really want to see. Please take some time out of your busy, internet-porn-surfing day and look up these movies on either IMDB or SXSW's website.  They are all really great and the filmmakers are friends of mine who deserve nothing but the best.

Continuing on that topic…The last and possibly most exciting reason I have for going to SXSW this year is that on Sunday night Sam Raimi will be presenting a very special screening of his latest film "Drag Me To Hell!"

Now I don’t have to explain to anyone who reads FEARnet why I am so excited about this...But dude…I am so fucking excited about this!  I just saw the trailer yesterday and it was somehow totally satisfying and managed to make me even more enthusiastic for what I'm hoping to be the first decent American horror movie in years.

So until next time...
