SOMEBODY HAS A CASE of the Mondays....

I stink.  I have not been updating this nearly enough.  Why, you don't ask?  Well, because I've either been having epically dramatic disagreements with my ‘colleagues’ via phone/email or in New York City trying to save the movie I'm most proud of from being taken away from me and re-edited into something aimed at the lowest common denominator.

Let's ignore the fact that the movie might be part of some sort of epic fail decision making for the moment and focus on the last part of that statement – ‘The Lowest Common Denominator’.

Where did the idea to pander to the dumbest group of people in order to be successful come from?  I mean, I realize the majority of people, especially moviegoers (and extra especially horror fans - no offense fans, I am in your category too) are either morons, or looked at as such...But why not give them the benefit of the doubt every once in a while?  Why not help them help you raise the bar in order to restore some quality in the movie business?  Because it’s easier to feed a kid sugar than it is something healthy...It’s easier to take pills than it is to exercise…And it is easiest to show someone something mindless and idiotic than it is to challenge them mentally.

I guess I’m in the minority here, but I LOVE a challenge.  Who doesn’t? I mean, who REALLY likes reality TV? Who doesn’t just watch it because there is nothing better on?  Who are these people that make up the majority of American TV/FILM audiences?  Why do they not seek out more interesting forms of entertainment?  Why do they just accept the crap that is being fed to them?  Laziness I suppose...And that's understandable.  We are all a bunch of fat lazy complainers who get so annoyed by what we are given that we run to our computers and start typing away on our blogs to bitch and moan about all the things that....oh, wait....uh…

Hold on, let's actually go with that for a second...This is kinda the answer to the aforementioned question (why do people not seek out more interesting forms of entertainment?) I was looking for.  They do...And it’s on the internet.  On the internet people have SO many choices of what they can be entertained by and almost none of it is created by corporations...It's content created by other fat lazy complainers just like themselves!

Now of course, the majority of what people seek out on the internet is pornography and clips of people falling down and that’s not really the most intellectually stimulating content…But that is partly because the idea of posting content on the internet as entertainment is still relatively new.  Porno has been around on the internet since the day Al Gore invented it...But quality movie streaming websites and internet web series are still pretty new.

So now is the time people!  Now is the time to seize the day and create/offer content other than 'Grape Lady' or 'Dogs in the Bathtub' but to actually take the idea of independent cinema to a place where anyone and everyone has access to ‘challenging’ progressive entertainment.  Perhaps even the time to incorporate some of those genius internet memes into something more than what they already are. Who wouldn’t watch an internet show about the further adventures of Goatse and Tubgirl?  It would definitely be way better than paying twelve dollars to go see 'The Faster And The Furiouser' next year…Right?

Maybe not…
