True Blood

We were not able to make it to EyeCon in Florida last weekend for the True Blood convention, but we scoured the web to dig up the dirt on the event.

Ashley Jones (Daphne) said that the most uncomfortable scene to shoot was the one where she and Sam had sex on the pool table.  It wasn't just that filming a sex scene was uncomfortable – physically rolling around on that pool table was painful.  Actor Sam Trammell ended up with a bruised elbow.   She also said that the cast likes to play practical jokes on creator Alan Ball.  In particular, when recording ADR after an episode has been cut, they like to record a separate set of dialogue just for Alan that is certainly not for air.  On getting the role, Ashley says she had never seen an episode, but her agent was obsessed with the show and determined to get one of his clients on the show.

Nelsan Ellis (Lafayette) said that he didn't perform the infamous basement scene Method, but it was creepy and unpleasant.  The rotting corpse was very realistic, and the basement was cold, damp, and smelly.  He also said that the audition process didn't go so well.  The casting director's first impression of Nelsan was that he was too masculine for the roll.  He went through four auditions, and by the end he was convinced he wouldn't get it, so he went all out – and landed the role.

Sam Trammell (Sam) has more nude scenes in True Blood than anyone else.  It doesn't bother him too much, because he started his career doing theatre in New York, where the prerequisite is, apparently, to be nude.  So he has performed naked before.  He does find it tough to stay in shape, especially next to Ryan Kwanten (Jason).  Todd Lowe (Terry) let slip that there may be a pregnancy this season.  Whose it is, and what kind of creature it might be was not brought up.  Allan Hyde (Godric), who was born in Denmark, gave a little demo of his mother tongue.

It sounds like a great weekend.  What else happened that we didn't hear about?
