Why or why not.
well i loved reincarnation because good plot, good acting (even though there wasnt much dialog which sometimes is good), and well enough i saw it in japan before it came to horrorfest so it was a good movie
one of Takashi Shimizu's best films! whats not to like? great mystery/creepy atmosphere i would recomend this to anyone who likes there films to have a bit of substancei liked it enough to get the DVD
Reincarnation was my first real introduction to Asian Horror, even before I saw Ringu or Ju On. Loved it. I encountered it when I started my blog last year. My initial goal was to review every horrorfest film, but aside from Unrest, The Hamiltons, and Reincarnation they all pretty much sucked imo.
reincarnation is a great introduction film because its quite balanced & is a good film to show people what they should expect from alot of Asian horror ........ not all but alot
that film the hamiltons was such a laid back & kinda slow film but oddly it really holds your attention i brought that film aswell!
I think we're in agreement. Reincarnation is a good 'My first asian horror film'.
I watched Death Bell (got it off Itunes), and I'm working on my review now. Did you like my review of 'Coming Soon'?
that review was really high quality, i just nipped over & read it, i left a comment there
Asia is devoid of friendly ghosts.
I think the best they get are childrens ghosts which are usually mischevious not dangerous.
i think what i love the most with asian ghost sub gener storys is like religion i dont belive it! SO sure as shit if it turned out to be true on my death bed am going to have to say bazinga! or sorry
i question why the shit american remakes kept the "wet haired ghost" approach since it has fuck all to do with american culture? .............. thats what gets me
Thats always been my point I could never get across. Ghosts dont bother me at all and in western culture, only ghosts (actually poltergeists) that can actually physically HURT you are the ghosts that Americans might be afraid of so WHY think just SEEING some dumbass long haired wet girl would mean anything to a westerner?
Its the fact that the Japanese (for example) are actually MORE frightened of the IDEA of a ghost than its ability to DO anything. In the infancy of horror movies, it was scary to people. . . . CONCEPT WISE. . . that something would rise from the dead. It doesnt really mean shit now UNLESS it rises from the dead and. . . . . . . . eats you , bites you, infects you, hurts you, hurts your friends etc etc. otherwise, who cares.
Thats why the Asian flicks dont do anything for me. If your not "scared" of ghosts and torture isnt even about fear. . . . . then wtf is the big deal ?
