Favortie Silent Horror Film

Just curious what everyone's favorite silent horror films are. For me it would probably have to be Nosferatu, but Salvador Dali's Andalusion Dog is a close second. Don't know if it's really considered horror or not but the opening scene where the woman gets her eye cut in half with a straight razor was fucking great. Pretty extreme for a film made it the late '20s.

NOSFERATU!!

Nosferatu because of the creepy lighting and use of shadows.

No doubt it's "HAXAN" aka "WITCHCRAFT THROUGH THE AGES" 1921. At one time this film was banned in many countries for it's scenes of black masses, orgies ( with some nudity!) and other diabolical practices. It was made in sweden and has one of cinemas best ever Satan's played by Benjamin Christiansen. See this one !

Yeah Freaks was pretty scary but my favorite, even though its been mentioned in this thread already, is Nosferatu. The lighting, and just the overall feel of the movie gives you the sensation of being little again and in the middle of a very bad nightmare. There was no CGI or other special effects, so all scary effects had to be achieved through really creepy makeup and plain ambiance. Effective and creepy on every level, this movie will always have a place in my heart.

Phanthom of the Opera the immortal Lon Chaney sr + they added color to one scene + great music how wonderful that would have been to see in a old movie house accompanied by a live organist.
