What movie scared you as a child?

I remember going to see SLEEPING BEAUTY as a child. When we got home that night, I was afraid that the evil queen was on top of our house as my dad pulled into the driveway. That movie really got to me!

Anyone else with memories to share?

I was about 10 when Friday the 13th was released on HBO and I watched it at my uncles house. It was great until jason jumped out of the water at the end. I went from the chair to the back of the couch hiding behind my Uncle. That part to this days scares me even though I know it is coming.

When I was only about 5 or 6 yrs old, my dad took me to see Burnt Offerings. That movie was rated PG but it scared the hell outta me! I can still remember the spooky grin on that chauffer's face and what it insinuated.

Another victim of the Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Not only were the Ompa Lompas creepy, but the boat ride was disturbing, Gene Wilder was a deranged lunatic and I was tramatized by the scene were the gum chewing girl turned purple and became huge and was rolled away by the Ompa Lompas. I was afraid to eat candy or gum for a long time, I was certain this would happen to me. Not a good movie for a seven year old!

The first real horror movie that scared me was Amittyville Horror. Saw this when I was ten and was afraid to ever look at the rocking chair on the way to the bathroom at night, I was sure it would be rocking! To this day I'm a bit creeped out by rocking chairs.

There are many, but "The Creeping Unknown" aka "The Quatermass Experiment" scared the hell out of me (leaving room for a lot more later down the line :) ).  Although the science is highly dated, the horror of that poor guy being slowly taken over by an alien life form is still viable. -- Fin

It as winter of 1960 or 1961 and the first SciFi/Horror movie I first saw was Them I was 4 or 5 at the time and movies like them were'nt shown very often, you had to go to the Driveins or Movie House to see Horror movies around here.My mother freaked out when they showed them Big Assed Ants and I tried to climb the friggin walls in our livinroom and I had nightmares for weeks. Now they show worst horror on Saturday Morning Cartoons.I own that figgin movie now and watch it 2 or 3 times a year and have kept an eye on the Grandkids when they watch it and all they do is bemoan the fact that it is in Black & White.I don't tell them what it did to me lol......Peace.......Joe
