The Last House on the Left Review

The Last House on the Left Review

What can I say...Superior...amazing...this movie will blow you away...

ok...so it's not an award winner for dialogue, but it should be for everything else that is important for a straight up raunchy, diabolical, gore-fest/ rape revenge flick. For example, one of the most memorable lines is a rapist complaining that "the sex-crime business doesn't pay that well."...Wow!! bad line but what does it say about the mind set of the movie...exactly...not for the timid.

More than 30 years after being made, the film remains effectively disturbing and upsetting, simply because it portrays real people doing horrible things to other real people. note: Hallmark and Atlas International (distribution company) when they released the movie in Germany, attempted to pass it off as an actual "snuff" film (i.e. a real murder staged for the camera).

Wes Craven, whether intentionally or not, created a masterpiece of disturbing horror. And on his first try at that.

Blood, Guts, Rape, abuse, torture, penis biting, forced suicide, castration, pants wetting, and good ole disembowlment, and much much more kiddos...whew!

This is a must see...Whether you love it or hate it (Its like golf ...there is no in-between), you must admit that Last House on the Left is a powerful and important film (remember when it was made).

And by the way...TACOS ARE COOL!!

I rented this from BB a few months ago and kept it longer than normal and watched it at least 4 times in 2 weeks. This movie is one of my top 10 favorite of all time.

This is one BRUTAL movie!! I begged my big sister to take me to see this when it first opened, she was so pissed at me for making her see it!! The way Wes Craven shot this flick made it seem all too real. The acting was awful, but the material really pushed the envelope for a movie made back then.Well ahead of it's time.

As Roger Ebert said, the way it's filmed it seems so real, therefor you can't "distance" yourself from it.

Great movie and effective even today.

The DVD from MGM is nice and has more than one would expect an exploitation film from '72 would have on it's disc. The picture is nice and the sound is good too. The extras are more than enough. It's certainly worth having in the collection.

It is very nasty, and that's a good thing. Few characters, also good. A brutal slasher movie all in all, and mostly very real about it.

I'm a BIG Wes Craven fan,and of all his movies THIS ONE still is disturbing to watch!! Roger Ebert nailed it!

I liked this movie, but it reminded me alot of the obscure movie "I Spit On Your Grave".
