Independent Feature on FEARnet

Independent Feature on FEARnet

I want to ask everyone what you think about this idea.

Local filmmakers and even filmmakers who are just starting out and haven't gotten a break get a chance to put a short or feature film on fearnet.

I would think this would be a cool feature. If they had like a indie section where we could upload our shorts or feature or send them copies. That would be great.

What do you all think?

Excellent idea! Maybe let the online viewers vote for their favorites and put the best ones on TV? How bout it, Forces of Darkness who run this site?

YES! Please do this, great opportunity for the little guys, and great opportunity for us to see their work. If your budget would allow it, you could even have an upload your movie section, where the REALLY little guys could upload their home made horror flicks (ala Star Wars Fan films site type thing). You'd have to review them of course, but I think that would be great too.

I would suggest handling it akin to the way Damon/Affleck worked "Project Greenlight". Open a contest for horror shorts, post the video submissions online, let registered members vote for our faves, and then offer them for viewing on FearNet. Push the community aspect of FearNet. I think that would seriously work out to your favor.

I think it's an excellent idea, but I think there should be some sort of screening process. I've made amateur horror films (as I'm sure many of you have), and my friends and I love them, but I doubt that the rest of you would enjoy them as much as the cast and I do. Just like garage bands, there is a lot of unfound talent out there, but there is also a lot of material that just doesn't translate well to those who don't know the folks involved. If we get overloaded with a ton of movies, it will be hard for the cream to rise. I mean, who has the time to sit through everything that gets submitted? Maybe there should be a contest, to be moderated, and the better material could be posted for voting. IMHO.

Trust me, we won't post everything, there will be a screening process.
