I know most people here are American, but try being brought up on a diet of Hammer House, Doctor Who and Roald Dahl's Tales of the unexpected fucked up for life......
i love the Hammer films. Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, David Prowse, etc, legends of horror in my book. My brother got me into Dr.Who at a young age, but the channel that showed the episodes never put them in order so i was always confused, but still enjoyed them
HAMMER STUDIOS ARE MOTHERS MILK to me. I watch em all the time. Love the gothic scenery, the accents, great acting. Cushing and Lee are unbeatable. When I have probs and cant sleep I put on one of the old flicks and focus and get into a calm nostalgia and off I go. Christopher Lee is still the best Dracula and Cushing is still the best Dr. Frankenstein. Best classic horror, ever.
I loved Lugosi for his STYLE and the creepy smile and accent when he was moving in but I prefer Lee's power and force and dignity, he was more frightening. Lugosi was more creepy but combined with the story, for me Lee was the best. Doesnt take anything away from Lugosi, its likd two styles of music. KARLOFF to me is IRREPLACEABLE. His voice, his bearing were unbeatable. You will notice I said CUSHING was the best DR. F not the monster. And Chaney was the Wolfman. While those movies were CLASSIC. They were just a few flicks when compared to the outpouring of horror that came from the House of HAMMER. One was a great little drizzle, one was a deluge. I NEEDS the water, LOL.
