I think the new Freddy is the better actor in general. Not sayinig that to piss anyone off, just my opinion. For me, Englund was a little over the top in everything he did, not just NOES. The new guy MIGHT not be any good but we cant tell unless we see it. I try not to be prejudiced when it comes to actors. Im not a fan of ANYONE cause lets not kid ourselves, they dont really give a personal shit about fans individually. So to me, they are just performers and I am a fan of the GENRE.

Nice close "HF". Like everyone else I have not seen it either but this just like asking who was the better Jason with remake of "Friday the 13th. Robert Englund acted his ass off in that role and for that it's got in the horror hall of fame as well as Kane Hodder as Jason. No matter how many replacement actors come about for "Freddy"or "Jason",they will never be able to actually fill those icon"s shoes no matter how good their performances in the roles may be.   And,although this hasn't been brought up as of yet, I feel KaneHodder was better than what's his name? from the recent remake. Kane Hodder is just plain mean.,although the new did have more vengefulness in his performance.

You have a valid point dc because I DO love the first and second NOES. Then it got campy and jokey and too, almost silly. Dream Warriors I think was the name of the only other one I enjoyed cause they figured out how to fight, they just didnt have the heart and discipline so you raise a valid point. But again, Englund may forever be FREDDY but Im not gonna knock the rice bowl out of the new guys hands if he does a decent job and the movie is good. I dont think they should stop making NOES JUST BECAUSE Englund is NOT in it.HELLFIGHTERS SMILEYJust my opnion. I am a HORROR FAN.

I can't say for sure until I see the new movie, but I'm divided. I'm a huge fan of the old Freddy but I can't knock the new Freddy either. With Friday the 13th and Halloween I never noticed the difference between Jason and Michael. With Freddy you see the difference right away. HF is right, the actors are not a huge fan of their fans. I got to see the remake before I say I hate the new Freddy. So before I can say I like or hate The New Nightmare I'll have to see the movie first.

I admit, I haven't seen the new Freddy yet. But let'z get real, no one can compare to the original. It'z just gonna hafta see it until I know for sure. It'z a BIG change, but the new Jason did a perfect job. I'm not a skeptic on horror movies. I am willin' to watch it before I judge. But when I seen the previewz, it'z just not tha same. But LONG LIVE HORROR. period.

I think Jakie Earl Hailey will do a pretty good job as the new Freddy.

Not to knock Englund, but I feel that Hailey will introduce us to a Freddy that we haven't seen before: a creepier, darker, and violent Freddy.

By watching the previews alone, the new Freddy has a creepier voice and a more menacing approach; something that has always been missing with the original Krueger. I eventually get tired of watching Englund being such a goof-ball when killing his victims.

I remember "Wes Craven's New Nightmare" tried to re-vamp Freddy in the late 90s (black trench coat, freaky eyes, and thinner claws) but by that point, the franchise had slowed down a bit, and we were then re-re-introduced to "classic" Freddy in the god-awful Freddy vs. Jason back in '03.

Hailey played the vigilante hero Rorschach in Watchmen, and I thought he was a bad-ass then.

It's gonna be real cool to see him play a bad-ass in the N.O.E.S remake.

To me Robert will always be that charater, he scared the shit outta me as a kid and whenever i hear his voice i think of that film...Yet they were all ruined after the 2nd one with all those so-called comedic one-liners. I do think that the dude from 'Watchmen' will do a good job. I plan to see the film on the 30th and therefore i could comment more on the subject then, we all probably will. lol. When i first heard that the re-make was being done i really wanted the orginal Freddy to be in, i was kinda pissed that he wasn't...'cause i think he just breathes that role. And as we all know numerous people refuse to see the film because of that...which in-a-way i kinda get. As far as i'm conserned, i just hope that the rest of the film is given its justice...as examples, Tina's death scene, {i cant remember the charaters name} Johnny Depp's death scene, AND most important Freddy's own plotline of how he evolved {yes they do show it in the trailer, but we can never be to careful of what's cut out and if its only a 2 minute scene, ya' know?} i hope Craven's script is not cut-up into bits and re-vamped, a great example, the butcher-fest that they call a movie- The Last House On The Left. I plan to keep my finger's crossed until the 30th. Peace, love and vicodin!

I don't know if the actor portraying the new Freddy had the Freedom like Robert Englund did so I can't make a comparison on acting style. I can though on script & even though I wont see the new on until it ends up on tv so I can save money on all these dime a dozen remakes, hands down Robert Englund & Wes Craven had the better chemistry & there for in my mind created a better Freddy.

Krueger was suppose to be over the top. He lives in the dream world, the fact that he's unpredictable, demented & yet disturbingly charming fits right into our nightmarish worlds.
