SO THIS IS A SERIOUS QUESTION 4 ALL THE FELLOWS. HOW DOES A GUY FEEL WHEN HE VIEWS A RAPE SCENE W/T A LADY BESIDE HIM? LET'S SAY YR WATCHING A FILM TOGETHER, NEITHER OF YOU HAD ANY IDEA ABT THIS PARTICULAR SCENE. DO YOU FEEL PROTECTIVE? UNCOMFORTABLE? WHAT DO YOU DO? I BOUGHT THE UN-RATED VERSION OF ZOMBIE'S HALLOWEEN WHEN IT FIRST HIT STORES. I HAD NO IDEA HE HAD REMOVED SUCH A SCENE 4 THE THEATRES. I MUST ADMIT I NEVER WATCHED THT VERSION AGAIN. OF COURSE I'VE SEEN, I SPIT ON YR GRAVE, AND LAST HSE ON THE LEFT, BUT WHT DO YOU CONSIDER SMUT? REMEMBER RAPE IS AN ACT OF VIOLENCE, NOT DESIRE. IT'S ABT CONTROL, SO HOW DO YOU FEEL WHEN IT SHOWS UP UNANNOUNCED IN A MOVIE?

If the scene is well done, meaning realistically executed, I feel angry. Its a natural response. I do feel embarrassed if I selected the movie. If not, its not a biggie, but I still get angry. Got angry watching the movie MARTYRS, theres no rape but its INTENSE and I had to be kind of snapped out of it. And this was on t.v. DVD.

Not knowing it was there..a good director uses rape as a shock value..no matter how many times I see them kinda scenes..it usually just pisses me off..I've got daughters..grand daughters..have had two wives..so if I know ahead of time I would skip the movie if any of em were going to be with me..just because..it's that simple..I can usually get through it okay..even though it pisses me off..but when the movie is one of them kind where rape is a space filler and they drag it out..I turn it off or leave..just not my cup-o-tea kinda entertainment..The movie that always comes to my mind with it's a shock value scene was with Sondra Locke in The Outlaw Josey Whales..that friggin rape scene always has stayed with me..the terror and looks she did in that scene was so realistic..I tryed to reach through the screen and hurt them guys..I don't handle Children or Women getting beaten or raped very well in real life or movies..I don't know if I've hit on what you were looking for or not..but it's what I got..Peace..Joe

Good topic CB great question.

It's really good.

In that particular scene (which I think is intense) Zombie talks about why he thought that scene was important based on how the mood shifts when michael escapes the asylum.

We know Michael Myers as an evil bastard, but in that one scene I found myself rooting for him in that brief moment cause he kills those hicks who hurt that mentally ill girl.

That rape scene is really good because it's one of the few scenes in all these remakes that we've seen that was really scary without being bloody, gorey, and didn't really involve the main killer.

one guy raping the poor girl, while the other guy shouts obscenities right in michael's face...

just creepy

For me it depends on if it realisticly shows the girl getting rapped, show the girls getting attacked then cut to the next scene (Hollow Man), just shows the girl showing up severly beaten indicating she got severly rapped (Gran Torino), or just mentioned that this charater is a rapist. It doesn't matter if I'm with a girl or not, I will feel more or less uncomfortable acording to what I said.

it wouldn't bother me before, but a close relative of mine got rapped by my ex best friend. She was five years old. Now if I ever see my so called pal again I swear to god that mother fucker won't be standing for long. I learn people who you trust with you're life can violently stab a big fucking knife though you're heart unespectingly.

Yes, I did see the commentary, but not till after. It's one thing if you know abt it, like in those two movies I mentioned. Btw, thx 4 everone's thoughtful replys.

It's sad to say that rape is a part of life.  It happens.  I don't mind if it's in a movie and it pertains to the movie.  But when directors put rape scenes in movies just to stop a lull, that's disgusting.  And this was said earlier, you don't necessarily have to have a rape scene to get your point across.

Rape scenes are akward to watch anyway unless of course its in humanoids from the deep and the rapists are fish monsters, during those scenes i was howling laughing!
