I liked it..it was a good watch..one of those wifey and I could watch together..very rare we can sit through a horror movie and watch it without her getting up and leaving the room..
I liked the first one. The original. That guy had the perfect deep voice for something creepy like that. Awesome opening musical score too........spooky.
Someone told me that there really is a place called Cabrini Green but I'm not sure if they said it was in Philly or Chicago. I think whoever wrote and directed that film did a bit of research into the old folk tales and urban legends, that you guys have mentioned in this post and others.
As for a Clive Barker idea, this one didn't really stand up to the Hellraiser idea. He should of been much scarier than just a bloody hook. There's nothing scary about a typical black guy with a hook for hand. Not a bad movie, but feels like wasted potential.
I thought canyman was a good movie. Tony Todd is an iconic horror figure. I wish there were more movies to the series. I think the hook is just reminder of what was done to him. He has many ways to kill.
While I thought Tony Todd was excellent as well as Viginia Madsen who is always good, I didnt care for the movies. I dont think they generated a scary enough mood. The film was an ordeal for the heroine but it didnt generate any real fear IN THE AUDIENCE. That being said, of course Todd has a GREAT voice as CANDYMAN. But the flicks didnt do it for me.
Re: RE; CANDYMAN
???
Candyman was an okay movie, but it took it's entire plot from botching urbanlegends...
Re: RE; CANDYMAN
I liked the movie ok...
