If your curious about "Antichrist" you might like it if you check it out.  I've heard a lot of people say they liked it, I just was in the mood for more action or like a scarier plot.  I do like Willem Dafoe however.

Believe it or not, I haven't seen the re-makes of "Last House On The Left" or "I Spit On Your Grave."  I have watched the old ones.  Of those two remakes, which is better?

Sister! I have never seen Spit but I did see Last House the original and I couldn't finish it it was just to damn violent for me so I know I would not do well with the film. I do like WD as well the description does not seem like it was off the hook violent, is it?

The new SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE is probably the better of the two REMAKES. Her revenge is actually pretty igenious without somehow doing an elaborate SAW contraption in the middle of nowhere.

There are some castration scenes in the old CALIGULA movie. I cant remember some brutal new flick I saw where a man bites a womans labias off. That made me wince just as much as the other. Its all relative and a matter of the imagination. If it ever happened to me, they better make sure Im dead cause if not. . . . . . . . . . Im killing THEM. . . .  then Im killing their parents, their children, their aunts and uncles, their cousins, brothers and sisters, nephews, nieces, accountants, favorite restaurants chef, their hairdresser, their mailman, the guy that pet their dog, the vet, their school principal, the guy that delivers their pizza, the blue haired neighbor, the dude that. . . . . . . .

Gotta get offline soon because of a Thunderstorm here but really I'm not sure how to gauge "Antichrist" because it did have some gory parts to it that made me think like WTF, "why is she doing that to her husband?" "Did they just have sex?""

I just didn't understand it because the rest of it didn't interest me. I think the psycho lady in it was afraid of grass and trees and not just acorns, then a dude loses his penis, has a screw block type thing on his leg and tries to crawl away from his wife.  Maybe you can find some clips of it on youtube before deciding to rent it?

A lot of guys may think it's brutal.  If your an art film type then you'd probably like it.  The penis torture was weird though, the plot was so so. I thought I was going to go nuts just waiting and waiting for something remotely cool to happen.

antichrist relies more on atmosphere and tension to create its scares. The genital mutilation and hardcore sex scenes are just sort of there. I personally thought this was one of the best horror films of the last ten years. I mean the director even manages to make grass look scary. And the wildlife...shit man that fox is tres creepy. I don't know if most people were expecting zombies or emo vampires or something, but the reaction to this film has been very negative here on fearnet. Ho Hum...

Anyway if you guys want to see a really FUN castration scene, then check out STREET TRASH. I almost pissed my pants watching this one.

Awesome me thinks I will let that one pass because I am not into artistic type movies however Lagoon mentioned that it was about atmosphere, and I do like the idea of that.

Spooky take care sweets hope to see you soon!

I think castration scenes are like rape scenes for some people.  It can really rub someone the wrong way and depending on every aspect of the plot or personal stance in general.  Some may see the movies as not worth sitting thru too.  Not to say every movie that shows that type of violence is evil or anything, I just think that it may depend on how people feel about the film overall or films like that. I can understand why sexual mutilation makes some people cringe, but are not entertained by the act of those types of scary movies. I prefer other types of horror unless it's a weird day for me.

There's a lot that I can sit through but stuff like sexual mutilation, if it's a def. constant in the movie and also involves the removal of teeth, fingernails and eyes......it kind-of makes me feel like "blah."  There is a movie saved on my netflix instant list that supposedly has weird freaky stuff like that on it, but I haven't watched it yet as it didn't feel like one of those days yet and I can't remember the title off hand but if I watch it I will let you know Buffy.

Hey Buff, i really enjoyed Antichrist. It's a little artsy, but i dont think it was overly so. After reading what boo said i kind of wonder if part of why i "got" this movie was because i could identify with the female leads emotional issues. I really enjoyed watching the special features for this because the director talks about how he was dealing with crippling anxiety and subsequently, depression, and thats what really shaped this movie. The female charater (who we only know as the women) is suffering from horrible anxiety, depression and despair over the loss of their child (thats the catalyst for everything, even though they hint at her being mentally ill prior). It's her inability to deal with those emotions that causes things to do down hill. It has a few gorey moments, but nothing i couldnt handle. And i'm not a huge fan of gore. Thinking about it now, the part with the fox made my skin crawl more than the stuff with the guys leg or penis. I say give it a go girlie!

And i would have to vote for the orginal I Spit On Your Grave's castration scene. I havent seen the remake yet. Even though the scene in Antichrist is more graphic in what you see, the scene from I Spit is much more... dramatic per say lol. Really brands an image into your mind. Surprised

What bout the castrations in teeth? They were ummmm some what comical.., not to me but the female I watched the film with thought so and yet sooo graphic. I thought it really opened alot of doors that had never been opened before it.
