Got Megan is missing and Don't be afraid of the dark over the weekend.....

Megan is missing I really enjoyed although it was a little slow the last few minutes of the movie was intense.....A good see if you are the parent of a young child that age, kinda scary how these people can get to your children so easily.......3 skulls3 skulls

Also watched the remake of dont be afraid of the dark which I found entertaining.....The CGI was imho kinda sketchy but the Humonculous(as they were refered to in the DVD extras were cool looking)

And they kinda linked these things to a tooth fairy legend so that was kinda cool....I liked Del Toros version better...The actress that played Sally (Bailee Madison) Did a pretty nice job also  I like Del Toros brand of story telling sooo I give it 2 skulls1/2 oops that is supposed to be 2.5 for dont be agraid and 3 for Meagan is missing

The ending for MEGAN IS MISSING is brutally realistic without the cartoon horror movie death scene.

Yeah i liked Dont Be Afriad of the Dark. I always like Del Toro's weird atmospheric fairy tales he does. Like Pans Labyrinthe and such.

Go with low expectations. Better visuals than the original, due to budget (the original is a made for t.v. of the week show ) but not really better than the original. Which to say, both are equally good. The newer shows the creatures a little more and some nice interaction that you couldnt get in the original but its the story thats creepy. They DO elaborate more on the myth. Its good.

These days I always go in low expectaions, much less disappointments that way. A good story is always good to hear though!

Watched Don't Be Afraid last night... I kept falling asleep! BORING!!!! In my opinion anyways.

I guess its because you didnt see the original to put it in the context of its time. The original was made for tv and surprised quite a few people as the "MOVIE OF THE WEEK" never tended to be horror. And of course, back in the day we werent so jaded by the NEW levels of efx and gore. The new one was almost identical to the old.

Yep, you're right HF, I didn't catch the tv movie version. I may have missed important aspects while I was snoozing. But I did see 99.9% of the movie and was still unimpressed, even with very low expectations. And I have no idea what made it rated-R, it could have easily been shown on tv uncut. Probably one of those obscure rating guidelines...
