What movie scared you as a child?

I remember going to see SLEEPING BEAUTY as a child. When we got home that night, I was afraid that the evil queen was on top of our house as my dad pulled into the driveway. That movie really got to me!

Anyone else with memories to share?

You are forgeting its about childhood fears, unusual things that creep us out as children, alot of things are scary when your a child that arent scary as an adult, like the flying monkeys or the munchkins freeky curled up toes and can you honestly say that the witch isnt scary in any way? not even to a child? maybe now you understand.

Yes i did find the monkey's unsettling but there's no reason for kids t be WATCHING SOMTHING THAT LASTS THAT LONG without some sort of adult to give a feck. Like fair ground rides oh yeah and LIFE IN GENERAL. Without any guidance, kids will be scared of harmless things and worse vice/versa....Oooops got my self all het up then (but seriously, huh?) i should stop entertaining what people 'think they think' and watch some creative interpritation of broken thinking made entertaining.

I'm that way with The Exorcist. I never understood how that movie could be scary mostly because I was never scared by it. Of course, I didn't live in the 1970's either so I probably really couldn't understand it unless I had a time machine.

Also, I realize that kids were the primary audience, I think for that movie (The Wizard of Oz) and in that time frame (1930's) it was probably a really frightening thing to see flying monkeys and wicked witches and the like...also, from a kid stand point, things like that would freak me out. Especially if the monkeys and witches did nothing but attack you.

My first movie was The Hills Have Eyes (1977) I saw it when I was 6 in 1982. Funny enough the movie The 7th Sign(1988) was the one that scared the crap out of me. We saw it at a drive in and to this day I can't watch the movie. Maybe it was having a religious grandmother remind you of the Apocalypse every day or maybe it was just Demi Moore. Don't know.

I saw IT when I was 5 as well as Poltergeist around the same time. I continue to fear clowns to this day.

The Excorcist used to absolutely terrify me as a child. and Evil Dead is a close second.
