Is it me or are the horror movies now adays getting to unoriginal? Don't get me wrong, not all that come out are bad but for the most part they are a little redundant. Enough of the little scary dead girl, The Ring was unreal with that girl. They should have stopped at the first Ring. Now it seems every other horror flick includes that slow moving, rotting corpse that can bend in a variety of ways little girl.
Next...I must give props to Rob Zombie. I admit when I went into the movie theatre I was a little skeptical when he made the new Halloween, but I thought it was excellant. Also House of 1000 Corpses was great. The Devil Rejects is one of the only movies that I actually wanted the insane serial killers to survive in.
Next...Ghost movies. I'm sorry but Amittyville Horror (original of course) was the last best ghost movie out there. I like Poltergeist but in my opinion it was missing something. The only decent ghost movie I've seen in awhile is 1408. If you haven't seen it then I suggest you do. Movie was superbly acted by John Cusak and was pretty original for a ghost flick.
Next...Not sure who out there has a childhood movie that completely messed them up at night but I sure as hell do. It might sound dumb but Stephen King's IT was a bit twisted. I was 7 when I first watched that. Come on, a 7 year old watching a movie with a clown who eats kids. Let's just say the night light was on for years to come after that.
Next...Zombie flicks. I love a good bloody gore flick but come on already. I just saw a movie title called Dance of the Zombies...hahaha. Dawn of the Dead, original and new, are good as well as the 28 Days/Weeks Later movies. Of course, Night of the Living Dead is awesome(original version and version with the Candyman in it is good) But we need to stop with the zombie flicks for awhile. Start them back up in a couple years from now.
I can't type anymore even though I missed many genres and topics to talk about the horror world. Later blogs to come...
