FEARnet's Week In Review 7/15

up
12

Well, after not having time last weekend to write a real update, today I have tons of time thanks to the city of LA closing due to CARMAGEDDON. So I get a half day at the office, and you get this recap. Everyone wins.

Let’s start with Movie News, because that is where the weeks biggest news came from:

The EVIL DEAD Remake is under way being written by an Academy Award Winner, but is that a good thing?

The Night Stalker, Carl Kolchak, is being brought back to the big screen by a Pirate.

Aint It Cool, Ethan Hawke is returning to horror in a movie written by C. Robert Cargill AKA Massawyrm.

Trailers:

The weeks second big surprise was much delayed trailer for the prequel to John Carpenter’s The Thing.  Cleverly titled The Thing. Nope, that won’t cause any confusion.

For all of the germaphobes out there, we have found a Contagion

We have the trailer for Hidden in the Woods.  Check out the title font at the end of the trailer. I swear I have seen it somewhere before?

Video Clips:

We have a behind the scenes or perhaps I should say behind the  séance clip from Insidious

The opening scene from the killer car flick Super Hybrid

Clearly the people who sent us this clip are not American, because these fireworks were over a week late.

Lists

Guest writer Travis Meyers of Margin of Error gives us his Top 5 “Snuff” films

Greg runs down his top ten classic horror themed rock albums

Blogs

In Drew’s School of Fear todays lesson is the state of studio horror films

Shock’s Ryan and our very on LPR shoot the shit on their first official podcast, Shock Waves episode 1.

Reviews

Alyse reviewed this weeks episodes of True Blood, Teen Wolf, and Falling Skies

Carl reviewed High School of The Dead

Last week Scott reviewed Deadtime Stories and Dr. Uwe Boll’s Bloodrayne 3.  I don’t want to speak for Scott, but I think he would tell you he took one for the team by watching these movies so you wouldn’t have to.

Comic Con

FEARnet will be making the annul trip to San Diego for Nerd Prom 2011.  We will be covering everything we think you guys will find interesting, and you can see what some of those events are Here and Here

We also just found out the perpetually in development Hack/Slash will announce its Cassie Hack next Saturday night.  This will be an “Illustrated” film.  There are some really good Hack/Slash stories, so I hope they choose the right people for Cassie and Vlad and they don’t cast the front runners they were planning on when we spoke to them 3 YEARS AGO when this was a live action film

Miscellaneous

It’s time for you to design you Zombie Safe House.  Max Brooks will decide if you live or die.

Mondo posters have been deemed Oscar worthy

Del Toro’s Director’s Cut of Mimic is coming to Blu

This chest burster is high in potassium

I think I will call it a day there.  Check out all of the news from this week over on the main site
