With so much hype about the world ending over the past couple of years (Mayan Calendar, Keith Bauer, global warming, etc.) you can't help but feel a little antsy about what the future has in store for us as a species.

The harsh reality is that we humans probably aren't going to be around forever and our demise could come at the hands of any number of sinister events.

This is why we're happy to see that at least one automaker is thinking ahead.

Hyundai recently released an Elantra Coupe specifically designed for a zombie takeover. With all sorts of bells and whistles geared toward surviving an onslaught of undead, you'll be happy to know that the Korean carmaker has our back in the event of an apocalyptic outbreak of a zombie virus.

The specially outfitted Elantra Coupe comes with a front-end custom zombie plow, armored window coverings, a roof hatch to allow passengers to fend off attacking walkers, a trunk full of electric and pneumatic weaponry, front and back end floodlights, spiked all-terrain/rally type tires and a CB radio system.

Hyundai says that the compact car still gets 40 mpg, best in the zombie-slaying class.

Sadly, this car isn't actually going to be in production. Rather, it was designed for the 100th edition of The Walking Dead comic by creator Robert Kirkman and was unveiled Thursday at Comic Con.
