Hello children of the night.

We all know cannibalism exists...but where does it exist and why? Who are the real cannibals that walk among us and why do they do what they do? Well, one aspect of this is that the urge to eat, kill, and copulate are all intensly and intimately related. That's why cann-fethishism exists, which varies in its extremes. In fact, often in cases of serial murder, rather than tribal ritual, when cannibalism is envovled it is often an intensly sexual experience for the person in question. However there are cases of psychotic cannabilistic fits in which the offender suddenly and violantly lashes out and begins ripping into the person out of paranoid or terrified psychological states.

I'm fuckin' fascinated with cannibalism. In college, at one point, I intended to write my senior thesis on it. Here is my list of some notable cannibals throughout history. I am not including acts of survival, because that is in its own category.

1 - Albert Fish

Anyone who's seen House of 1,000 Corpses has heard of this very odd gentleman. And yes, it's all true. In fact he was a gleeful participant in nearly all known (at the time) forms of sexual variation and perversion including: voyeurism, uraphilia, copraphilia, masochism, sadism, some other unmentionable acts (one involving a rose), and of course cannibalism. Albert Fish was obsessed with cannibalism. It's never been officially proven, but he confessed to eating children on several occasions. His body count could even be in the hundreds.

He was a Grimm fairy tale come to life, of the sweet old person who offers you sweets but is actually a cannibal. Appearing as a kind old gentleman, Fish lured many young children into his trap. Albert would achieve sexual satisfaction during the act of cooking the flesh of children. In many ways, he viewed himself as a "true" Christian, taking part in the mass on a quite literal way. In fact, on several occasions he would should "I AM CHRIST!"Oh yeah, Fish was bat shit nuts. Madness galloped through the genetics of the Fish family. Speaking of family, he had many children and had all regarded him highly.

It was also found that he had inserted, I believe, over 50 needles into his perineum (the place between the testicles and the anus) and had just left them there. There is so much I could say about Fish. I read Harold Schecters book on him which I highly recommend for anyone interested in this man. There is also a good documentary about him simply called "Albert Fish". There are some great interviews with Joe Coleman, one of my favorite artists.

2 - Armin Meiwes

Okay, this is an interesting case. The man was convicted for killing and eating a consentual partner, Brandes Jurgen. This made the case difficult to carry out, seeing as how cannibalism isn't officially illegal in Germany. Armin began fantisizing about eating other children when he was just a young boy. With a powerfully domineering mother, Armin realized at a young age that he was gay, and very definitly a cann-fetishist. However, this fantasy became a reality when he was able to contact a willing partner through the internet.

Brandes Jurgen's ulimate erotic fantasy was to be consumed by another man. Match made in heaven huh? The weird thing is, I don't believe that Meiwes is a psychopath because a few times he had had other possible candidates for the hamhock over at his house, but they would change their minds. Meiwes wanted a willing partner and never forced anybody to do anything.

Anyway, Armin and Brandes got together and had their own weenie roast. (Erm...) Armin and Brandes engaged in some very unusual behavior and the entire killing and butchering was filmed. I've seen a frame of it (eek). But it is apparent from the film and the evidence that Jurgen went willingly to his death. So officially, this was tried as an assisted suicide/voluntary manslaughter.

Armin said it tasted like pork.

3 - Jeffrey Dahmer

Oh...poor confused, messed of Jeffrey. When Jeffie was a young lad he realized he was a necrophiliac. Hmm...that can't be easy. Anyway, to cope with these scary fantasies that seemed to come out of nowhere, he began to drink heavily and was wicked alcoholic by high school.

Drifting through life, aimless, with a brief stint in the military from which he was discharged, Jeffrey got a nasty habit of drugging and molesting other dudes. Oh, did I mention Jeffrey was gay? You probably already knew that. Dahmer's crimes were motivated by lonliness and a twisted sexual drive. He killed to keep the relationship going. Not being able to have a normal one with a living person, his company was found amongst corpses.

He tried to create zombies but that didn't really work...Jeff also liked to cook and claimed that consuming their bodies (while giving him a sexual thrill) made the victims feel as if they were a permenant part of him, that they were always with him.

4 - Edmund Kemper

The Co-ed killer, Kemper was put in a mental hospital at 15 for shooting both his grandparents. While Kemper may at times exhibit emotion, I believe him to be a calculating psychopath. In addition to killing many college girls, he also killed his mother and totally desecrated the corpse.

Kemper's cannabilism is a little mysterious. I don't know a whole lot of details on the matter, but I believe his motivation was a similar experience of ownership and sexual excitement.

By the way, he's highly intelligant and eloquant. Look up some interviews and you'll see what I mean. He also reads books for the blind and works with the government to profile active serial killers. In fact, he expanded a personality test that is not used.

5 - Fritz Haarman

Turn of the century serial killer. He and his lover lured young men to their apartment where they were killed, butchered, and sold as meat. His level of cannabilistic involvement is unclear to me. If anyone knows, let me know.

6 - Andrei Chikatilo

The Rostov Ripper, Chikatilo proves that viagra exists for a reason. Chronically impotant, he would blame his crminial activity on the way that nature so cursed him. That is pretty rough. Andrei was a vicious lust-murderer and a sexual sadist. He murdered 52 people, mostly children, and was caught twice...and released twice. Forensic technology in Russia was not very good at this point.

Chikatilo like his meat al dante. During one of his hellish frenzies he would bite off and consume all sorts of body parts...including the uterus (even though he never admit to doing so, it was obvious that it was so...he said he just liked to chew on it)

7 - NOT Cannibals

Ed Gein - okay, he could've been...but there's no direct evidence that he did and he never confessed to such behavior. They found a heart in a pan on the stove, but that doesn't mean that he was going to eat it. Ed was psychotic at this point and barely knew what he was doing half the time. For all you who still think he is, that's cool. I don't really know. I've just done a lot of research on him and it doesn't seem like something he would do.

Nico Claux - He's not officially a cannibal. He's a necrophage. A cannibal kills and eats another human. A necrophage consumes the part of a corspe. He considers himself to be an "envirornmental anthropophagist". Some of the most prominent serial killer art is actually done by him and he is a fairly good artist.

Anyway, there's much more to say...but I'm tired. Cannibalism simply fasnicates me. It's so primal, so disturbing, so taboo, and also quite multi-faceted. Sexual cannibalism is only one aspect of it...but you can never truly remove the sexual element to any violant crime.
