IMV RELEASES NEW “BEHIND THE PLAYER” DVD SERIES
FEATURING ROCKSTARS GIVING INTIMATE MUSIC LESSONS
Legendary recording artists give an intimate look behind the scenes of their lives as professional musicians and personal lessons for how to play their hit songs
LOS ANGELES, CA — April 2, 2009 — IMV LLC, a leading producer of interactive music products, has released a groundbreaking new series of Interactive Music Videos called “BEHIND THE PLAYER.” The innovative DVD series -- which features personal music lessons from members of some of the world’s most influential bands like KoRn, Ozzy Osbourne, Slipknot, Atreyu and Velvet Revolver -- provides music fans with an intimate behind-the-scenes look at the lives of their favorite musicians and an exciting new way to learn how to play their favorite songs: right from the players that recorded them.
The BEHIND THE PLAYER series is shot in HD on soundstages around Hollywood and directed by leading music video directors, including Dean Karr and Leon Melas. Each DVD features a different artist and includes over 110 minutes of content, including never before seen photos and video footage.
The BEHIND THE PLAYER “Interactive Music Video” format features eight segments, including:
Behind the Player: gives an intimate behind-the-scenes look at the featured artist’s life as a professional musician, including rare photos and video that traces the artist’s journey from childhood to their current projects. “Artists seem to appreciate the chance to speak directly to other musicians and tend to open up more than your average publicity interview.” says IMV LLC co-founder Ken Mayer.
Lesson segments: offer in-depth personal lessons by featured artist(s) on how to play two of their songs, covering special tunings and effects used, then breaking the tracks down in detail part by part. "These BEHIND THE PLAYER DVD’s are a great way to learn how to play your favorite songs," said KoRn guitarist Munky, “And get a better understanding of the special techniques, tunings and effects used by the players that recorded them.”
Jam Sessions: feature the artist(s) jamming the tracks they just taught with celebrity special guests on a music video style set. “It was a lot of fun jamming with [The Cult drummer] John Tempesta”, says Alice in Chains bassist Mike Inez, “And probably helpful to for musicians to see how the rhythm section works together when learning to play the tracks.”
VideoTabTM: shows exactly how the featured artist(s) play their part in the two tracks they teach. This video-game-style tablature is similar to Guitar Hero® or Rock Band®; however VideoTab™ shows how to play the tracks for real. Motion graphics show which frets and strings to play when, including special technique notations such as bends, slides and vibrato. “The VideoTab is amazing!” said Slipknot bassist Paul Gray, “It’s like a Guitar Hero but actually shows you how to play the tracks for real!”
“Tablature found in books or online is often incorrect, mainly because the artists that recorded the tracks were not involved in writing it,” says Rob Zombie guitarist John 5, “IMV VideoTab is created in collaboration with the artists themselves, so musicians can count on it being accurate.”
Special Features round out the DVD with rare video clips, photo albums and live performance segments. For example, the BEHIND THE PLAYER: Munky title includes an intimate nine-minute clip of him writing a song with KoRn bassist Fieldy in a hotel room while on their 2001 Word Tour.
The BEHIND THE PLAYER catalogue includes DVD’s featuring KoRn guitarist Munky; John 5, guitarist for Rob Zombie and formerly Marilyn Manson; Tim Skold, former guitarist and bassist for Marilyn Manson and KMFDM; Velvet Revolver bassist Duff McKagan, formerly of Guns N’ Roses; Mike Inez, bassist for Alice in Chains and formerly Ozzy Osbourne; KoRn bassist Fieldy; Slipknot bassist Paul Gray; Blasko, bassist for Ozzy Osbourne and formally Rob Zombie; Godsmack bassist Robbie Merrill; Tommy Clufetos, drummer for Rob Zombie; Jane’s Addiction and Porno for Pyros drummer Stephen Perkins; and Godsmack drummer Shannon Larkin; Atreyu guitarist Dan Jacobs; and guitar legend George Lynch.
The BEHIND THE PLAYER series is now available on DVD for $19.99 at local and national music retail outlets, including all Guitar Center and Sam Ash locations.
A portion of the proceeds from each BEHIND THE PLAYER DVD sold is donated to Little Kids Rock, a children’s music charity that gets instruments into the hands of underprivileged kids.

ABOUT LITTLE KIDS ROCK
Little Kids Rock believes that music is a critical component of first-rate education. Many schools have been stripped of their music programs. These cuts have had a disproportionately large impact on children from low-income backgrounds. Little Kids Rock restores music to its rightful place in the academic lives of kids in our public schools by providing a rich music education program including instrument instruction, free instruments and trained mentors. Founded by an elementary school teacher in 1996, Little Kids Rock is now serving thousands of students in California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Texas, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Washington D.C.
