I know I'm one of those guys who want to have an intelligent discourse on movies that I enjoy, even when others disagree with me, and even though I hope people can do so without resorting to flame wars that might end this forum, I'm saddened it's come to official rules being posted everywhere. It saddens me that people need to be reminded how to behave. It saddens me that we have to have warning labels on anything because people don't know how NOT to abuse something. It saddens me that everyone has to pay for the abuses of the non-caring minority. That being said, I AM glad that the rules are in a topic separate from all others, and not some added on tag to every post. So if we are going to HAVE to have rules forced upon us, at least they are not always in our faces.
Back on topic: what is the next big horror movie coming from Asia? Is "The Host" the next big thing? Are we going to get more women/children ghosts? More mutilation flicks? Or is something completely original about to burst over the horizon?

I dont like all these rules. Some are very reasonable but others are just to strict. I dont think it reasonable to ask us not to say "that sucks." I also dont think its reasonable to make us write out why we did or didnt like somthing. I would like to see more detailed responces but people should be able to write whatever they want. I also think its not reasonable to ask us to read entire threads befor writing a reply. I dont have time to read large ten page threads i know that might make my posts irelavent somtimes but no one is going to care. They just ignore my coment and move on. And i dont think it is fare to ask people to search through all the threads to see if somthing has been done befor. Some people just dont have time.
I agree with most of the other rules. Like the anti-child pervert rules. Child perverts suck....(oh yeah, now i need to explain why) because they.....um....do bad things to children (horribale things shuders) I also think the rules about descrimination are very reasonable. We dont want people to feel uncomfertable.

now i will get back on topic: I dont know what the next big thing in asian horror is but i deffinatly recomend the host. I thought it was not only creepy but also funny. It was a very well done movie.

I believe the "Rules" came about as a result of an influx of new people after FEARnet went to comic-con. And needless to say not all of them were nice.

Most, if not all forums, have some sort of rules or terms of service. They have to, otherwise anarchy, spam, trolls and flaming would be out of control.
I find the rules here to actually be quite flexible.
One thing I try (and yes, have on occasion failed) to do is remember there is a real person on the other side of the screen and that words can hurt. There's no way to "hear" inflection to know that something's a joke or sarcasm sometimes.
I haven't seen much really bad stuff here so far, which is very refreshing.

I agree with you about the whole hearing thing. I have run into trouble when me or other people said somthing that could be taken as an insult but the person who said it thought it was clearly a joke even though it clearly wasnt.
However, you are a fairly new member so maybe you havent seen any problams yet but trust me there are alot.
Also the reason I think these rules were unreasonable is because befor that fearnet didnt have alot of rules and its just shocking to have all these freedoms suddenly taken away from you.
