NO i dont think they can its like this: when i was a kid my older sis's moved out and left there old marionnete dolls in the shelf, they were freaky lookiin believe me, so one morning early it i woke and looked at the dolls and it looked like they were moving their mouths it froze me there for almost 2 hours until there was enough sun to come through my window!!! believe me this was before Chucky and shit so when i saw childsplay i was like fuck this!!! But clowns are scarier!!!

it depends on WHAT actually scares you and how well it's done,..the clown doll in poltergeist made for a frightening scene,..but chucky and dolly dearest were not half as frightening,..the puppetmater series runs hot and cold and demonic toys had it's moments ,..but i did like "dolls" from steuart gordon,..but films like blood dolls and the doll graveyard were simply terrible.

I can see why it can be for some... toy doll having a nice playful countenance, yet having an evil mind of it's own.
For me, no... just hard for me to see dolls as a credible threat. First exposure I had to the "doll" premise were the original Twilight Zones (Talky Tina the doll and Caeser the manniquin) and just didn't draw me in. It doesn't help I'm sure that I tend not to like killer/ slasher movies to begin with, and that's what most of the doll/ mannequin ones are.

Dolls are not scary. Chucky sucks. And while we are at it, "creepy" little kids do not scare me either and are becoming a tiresome cliche in horror movies.

Killer dolls are scary when you are a little girl and your brother takes you to see Chucky. My dolls had to stay in a locked box at night for like 3 years before I finally got my sanity back. I still don't trust barbie.

killer dolls are a big fuckin joke and so are the people who think them up!!! come on find something buried deep inside you that is truly fucked up and bring THAT to life now that is scary!!!
