where is the measure of creativity that got us to like horror in the first place? its ok for sci-fi, but some is creeping into the genre. think on what has been offered lately (esp. remakes) and tell me its better.

Nothing beats good filming and scripting. CGI can only add to make something better not improve a bad movie. Some of the best movies had little to no CGI or even special effects. Take the original Haunting for instance, what was really seen versus what was implied, and were special effects really used much? Look at the remake of the haunting, lots of CGI, but did this make the film any scarier? I think not! I do believe there is room for CGI in horror but it must be used appropriately and not to make up for a bad film.
