Duel and The Car always had mad me on the edge of my seat. Everytime i watch em' i get really thrilled and hyped up!! I give em' both an A+

Christine was sweet too. The acting and the story line was awsome. After watching that movie, I now have a high respect of 1958 (i think??) Plymouth Fury's. I also give this an A+!!!!

Duel is ok. Dennis Weaver portrays "stressed out" well. It is a TV movie and it feels like one. There is no real explanation as to what this trucker's problem is.

Christine is fun 80s trash. There are some good scenes in there, and the language is over the top. I haven't seen it for years, but Harry Dean Stanton is the man.

THE CAR is my personal favorite. That stuff scared the hell out of me as a kid. There is no real explanation for the issues that the car has. A lot of the stunts that the car pulls are straight ridiculous, but it is a mean-spirited little film.

I would say that if you want a neat package with a bow on it, watch Christine. If you want an ugly little film that will mess with you long after you watch it, watch THE CAR. If you want to see Spielberg's entry into the director game (besides his AMBLIN' short film) then watch Duel.

Check this thread.

The Car is a rated PG film from 1977. It is about this car possessed by some evil force that drives around hitting people and running people over. It is a really moody film. Yes, it is PG and that keeps the gore down, but on a really dark, conventional level, this is a very creepy film. Part of the creepiness of the film is that everyone's lives are so screwed up as it is. In some cases, the car is taking out people who had nothing better going on anyway.

There is also some "state of the art" PG bad language. One that I recall is a hitchiker who flips the car off when it almost hits him is, "Up yours with a splintered fiddle!" That one is awesome, and I drop it on people DAILY (kidding).

The car works its way through this town and gets thwarted by a graveyard. For some reason it can't drive on hallowed ground.

There is no real explanation about what drives the car, or why it is doing what it is doing. But that sort of adds to the whole element of cheesy suspense.

I picked it on DVD up not too long ago and watched it through a few times. It isn't bad, but it isn't really good either. Still, it is loads of fun.

Back when I was teaching high school, I used to show it on halloween to my students. They all thought it was ridiculous, and it is...but it is also a lot of fun.

See- I really disliked DUEL. I know Spielberg loved making it and it was the deal maker for Jaws... but, I got tired of it fast. It may have something to do with DUEL's premise/plot being recreated over and over and over again prior to me seeing DUEL for the first time. Even in Jeepers Creepers - DUEL seemed to have some influence on the truck. Anyway, loved Christine and loved The Car.

I'm with Muphukka. "The Car" is the movie with the deepest, most disturbing stuff going on. Brolin's girlfriend getting killed, and his boss's doomed infatuation with the abused wife, give it more of an emotional edge. It's also interesting to see an earlier performance by the actor (can't recall his name) who'd later play the creepy Uncle Louis on "Friday The 13th: The Series."

I really like all three films, though. If any of them are on TV and I'm home and unoccupied, I can get into watching any one of them again -- though I've seen them all several times. It helps that all three films have great lead actors.
