I know this isn't a classic yet, but it still gives me fond memories of the time when it came out. Freaky upper-class people, who have a booby-trapped house. The mom looks like a dude. The old dude dresses up as some sort of BDSM gimp. And of course, all the zombie looking people in the basement and under the stairs that nobody knows about. In a way, it was also a teenage romance type of movie. I know it sounds stupid, but I really enjoyed it for some reason. I must be crazy.

I agree with zigzag- I consider this movie to definitely be a classic. Everyone I know (including my parents) have seen it a crap-load of times! hahaa! It's got gore, MANY creepy elements (like you said, spookyboo- The relationship between the "parents"), humor and it's actually pretty well-acted and well shot! It also brings back a lot of cool memories for me. I love this movie and have passed it on to my son who claims it as one of his all-time favorites now as well..heheh. Definitely a Classic.

It's been a while since I've seen this last, but I recall going to the movies to see it at new theatre we were trying out. It's odd and not really a comment on the film itself but the theatre was packed full of people yelling at the screen. I litterally missed half the movie's dialogue because so many of the patrons were shouting.
Other than that great film, after I actually got to sit down and watch it. Political commentary, incest, cannablaism and hordes of mutilated people being hidden away under the stairs, all with a slightly urban twist.

Not sure if I consider a horror-movie myself but will be classic. Very freaky and funny at the same time. I watch it everytime I know it's going to be on t.v.

I just watched this movie last night, I hadn't seen it in years. So great. Now I need to find someone to run around in a gimp suit with me next Halloween and I have my costume all figured out.

This movie was pretty good some pretty freaky people dont you think.Taking kids and trying to mold them into what they wanted them to be.YOU MUST NOT SPEAK NO EVIL HEAR NO EVIL TALK NO EVIL its the only way.Nothing like having a brother & sister as your parents.Pretty creepy!!!!!

MY KIDS AND MYSELF USED TO WATCH THIS MOVIE ALL THE TIME TOGETHER. I DO HAVE THIS MOVIE SO I STILL PULL IT OUT EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE. ALWAYS A FUN WATCH.

The People Under the Stairs is one of my favorite Wes Craven films. Its just weird and all around scary. The guy in the leather gimp looking outfit with a shotgun always freaked me out. lol
