Both Nightmare and Halloween
Both Nightmare and Halloween are severely badass. Michael and Freddy fick ass but to be fair, Freddy is kind of a pussy. It's cool he can invade dreams but if he gets people in their dreams there's not much they can do to him. Michael on the otherhand, is jlike what Loomis said "Evil on two legs." He just keeps coming back. The only thing that had sucked about that though is that they never have officially closed off the Halloween series. I mean for Christ sakes, Michael is still alive. They need to stop focusing on all these damn remakes.
I have to go with Nightmare
I have to go with Nightmare on Elmstreet, both have supernatural elements, Nightmare on Elmstreet makes better use of these elements than Halloween.
Seeing A NIGHTMARE ON ELM
Seeing A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET at age 10 was what turned me into a full blown horror fanatic, and I love it dearly to this day, but HALLOWEEN is a perfect movie. (NIGHTMARE's ending never really worked all that well.) John Carpenter's HALLOWEEN for the win!

I have to say Nightmare on Elm st. I am 29yrs old and those are the only horror films that I have to watch in the day time. Also, even when I haven't watched for months I still have nightmares about Freddy.
