Scared vs. Startled

Scared vs. Startled

Okay, which do you prefer? I'm not really the fan of being startled. Something just poping up or making a noise in order to make you jump just doesn't do it for me. Fear is an anticipation, a lingering thought, a horrible turn of the imagination. It is the unknown sound that you're not sure you heard, that shadow of something you can't quite make out, a movement out of the corner of your eye. Making someone scared is a subtle act. Startling someone lacks finesse.

I am in complete agreement, I enjoy a good scare, but being startled is alright but lacks the lasting effect of a scare.

SCARED!! How scared? Too death of course! Being scared is so much more "long lasting". You're really only startled for a short while (usually). However one can be scared of something a lifetime. . . . .

Nicely said!! I like being scared half to death!! It doesn't happen very often though...the world has gone PC and startling seems all the rage...sighs

Cheers!!
