Around the mid 1900's the world was introduced to the fantasy of flying superheros in "Superman" and ever since then the world has been bombarded with little green men, talking tigers and other weird ideas that the public can imagine. I don't mean anime or anything of mainstream Japanese comics that we all know and love (or hate, depending) but the original classic comics of yesterday.
Remember Calvin and Hobbes, the heartwarming tale of a brillian six-year old with diabolical plans of taking over the world and eradicating anything educational and his loyal but sensible stuffed tiger? Calvin was possibly based after "The calvin age" a period in the early 1900's where greed and materialism ran supreme (much like is does today) and Hobbes was the name of a famous philospher, hence the sensibility and intelligence of the boy's stuffed animal. There are many theories surrounding Hobbes, is truly a stuffed animal or does he come to life when Calvin's parents aren't around. The world may never know as the author never released any sort of franchise to accompany the comic.
And what about Star Trek, the lovely television show that all of the awesome, geeky nerds (like me) watch non-stop, well that notorious television show was spawned from a comic!
Khaos-X is my name and posting stupid, useless information is my game! If you cannot already tell, this is a tribute to the classic novelties that have permanently warped our minds. Tell me your favorite comic, whether it be from an actual comic-book itself, something posted weekly in the newspaper or even manga (Gasp! Oh no, anything but that!!) First person to comment receives their very own set of Spock-ears! So what are you waiting for, cease your constant instant-messaging and get posting!!!
re comics
well Mr. Khaos(i love your name but i want to put a bigger title like Dr. Khaos or something) I was born in the 60's so when i was a kid my favorite superheros were Spiderman and Batman(I loved the original series with Adam West) And I am a huge fan of the original Star Trek, I did have a crush on Capt. Kirk and a wierd facination for Mr. Spock too, and all my friends knew how to do the Vulcan death grip oh yeah! And I wish we had a superhero league of justice for real.
As I got older new characters I fell in love with were The Tick, that big blue hunk and his sidekick Little Wooden Boy, too funny. and of course The X-men who could resist Wolvereen great character.
So those were my childhood heros, And I will wear my spock ears with pride.
lol babuh
Greetings from Dr. Khaos-X
Hey thanks, glad you like my name and I'm a girl by the way (Don't worry, I'd rather be mistaken for a boy then be formally known as an annoying, giggly fangirl!) Dr. Khaos?? Interesting alias, does this mean I'm some sort of psychotic shrink that terrorizes her patients and then hacks them to little bit, so I'm like Dr. Phil, WHOO!
So you're from the swingin' sixties, the flower children generation? Cool, a lot of awful-yet-good b-grade horror movies were released in that decade. I've never read Superman or any of the superhero comics but I'm a sucker for satire and horror-inspired comics like the ever-notorious Tales of the Crypt, check it out sometime. Calvin and Hobbes was always my all-time favorite, along with Zits, even though they're printed in the newspaper. It was a dreary day when the Calvin and Hobbes cartoonist retired, some say it was over the controversy over his comics or it was because the panels were becoming to small and limited to tell a decent story. All I know is that he didn't wanted any franchise because it might somehow ruin the comic for what it was.
Star Trek is by far one of the best Science Fiction television and comic series of the millennium, what's not to like about the insanity of space exploration and encounters with extraterrestrial life? I never had a thing for Captain Kirk, too arrogant but I realize that I have a fatal attraction to weird alien lifeforms (i.e. Spock) Did you see the new Star Trek movie, I heard it was unbelievably superb.
Thank you, loyal internet traveler, for posting on my dorky comic tribute, sincerest appreciations. Speaking of spock ears, where the hell can I get a pair (freaking out the public is one of my specialities!)
