I have this on general discussion, but I figured I'd post it here for you more literary types... I'm a pen and ink artist with a horror theme. I'd love to find a writer to work with. Let's start with a RECENT short story (please, not one twenty years old). If I like the story, I'll commit to an 11X14" illustration. Check out my website:
I get the feeling there are a lot of young people on this forum (I'm 50) but that won't stop me from reading your work. BE WARNED...I sell prints on my site, but that's not why I'm there. Please don't think I'm spamming. (If I knew selling prints would restrict my connecting with future writers, I never would have done it).
Yours in Horror,
Will

Will,
i'm impressed with your work. i happen to be a writer, but have never found a need to work with an artist. however i'm working on submitting a story now, if anyone agrees to publish it, perhaps i can inform them of your work
have you tried selling any pieces to some of the small press magazines?
your arts reminds me a lot of a cross between Virgil Finlay and GAK

Hi Vagabond,
In this age of BIG NAME or no deal, getting published is a huge uphill battle for me. I could paper my house with photocopied rejection letters (that is, if they reply at all). I've won awards, had a private show, and am in a gallery, however all that pales to the potential immortality of being published. How is it for a writer?
I know that all the major Pub. houses won't even accept unsolicited manuscripts. I guess small pressis the way. In a word...yes...I've been sending out to every small press magazine, e-zine, and phot copy-zine there is. My site has only been up for two weeks. It's been a great tool for me. Now, I can e-mail my site, instead of mailing my portfolio. Good luck to you.

getting published in the small presses isn't too difficult, but you do have to network to do it
unfortunately editors are as prone to helping out their friends or those who can further their careers before anyone else
the odd thing is i had a story published 2 years ago that i think would blend well with your distinctive lines and surrealistic settings
i'll send it to you later, though it doesn't need artwork, but maybe someday
i'll also send along some small press magazine sites that might be interested in your kind of artwork
but please do let me know if your familiar with them
