NECRONOMICON

NECRONOMICON

The infamous Necronomicon- written by the mad arab Abdul Alhazred, a.k.a. H.P. Lovecraft.I have been searching for it (well, okay, I haven't left my desk, but one can travel rediculously far and get absolutely no exercise, thanks to the internet), and cannot seem to find any trace of an actual Necronomicon, with two exceptions: one in Yorkshire, England (and I'm not traveling halfway across the world- don't have that kind of money), and the other at my local Borders written by Abdul Alhazred, but in Semetic and suspiciously published in the '80's.So what I want to know is whether there is an actual Necronomicon written by H.P. Lovecraft/ Abdul Alhazred, and if so, do you know where?

C'mon, people! Vote! The Elder Gods are getting antsy over here! (and if you've never seen an Elder God get antsy...well, trust me, you don't want to!) Hides under bed.

I bought a copy of it years ago when I was in high school, although I don't remember where it is now. My mom caught me reading it & FREAKED. She thought I was trying to get into satanism. I just wanted to read the damn book. My copy said it was translated from the original, though I'm doubting that. The copy I had is probably the same one that Borders sells now. If there is a real one I wouldn't be surprised if it's locked away in the vatican vaults for 'safe keeping'. Or it could be in a Swiss vault, Hitler was into the occult & searched out that kind of stuff to gain more power.

H.P. Lovecraft created this book to further give depth to his other works. Makes his stories about the Cthulhu Mythos that much deeper. He was and remains one of the definitive horror writers for all time.

I own an extensive collection of occult books and I still have my Necronomicon from when I bought it years ago. I am also a big H> P. Lovecraft fan. The Necronomicon that I own is supposedly a translation of the actual book, the actual book of course doesn't exhist and the book I have was written in the 70s. There is also a totally different version I've never read and is harder to come by.

Lovecraft never actually wrote the necronomicon. he used the mad arab and the accursed book to further build on the cthulu mythos which he created. Also famous authors who have used the mythos and collaborated with H.P were clark ashton smith, robert Bloch and Robert Howard of conan fame. Now the book that is being sold is a purely fictitious work based off of hp's work but, the general magical theory in the book is correct according to a few of the "occult experts" I know. so i guess the answer is yes and no. Also a lot of lovecrafts writings in my mind deal with quantum physics and mechanics. so with his power of perception who knows maybe he saw things we cant. In any event he was a great man and an outsider who wrote about things that are becoming theories and fact today.

Sounds like you already been pwned!

Some say real some say not. Satanic bible is real and was Anton Levay's creation and have been to his church in San Fran and at the time they wanted geusts to register by signing a book with what they said was goat's blood so I signed but signed it Richard M Nixon. lol

Seemed fitting he said he was not a crook and America beleived it right?

Oh and btw Lovecraft rules.

There are few authors these days that can keep you up at night with tales of the creepy, crawly and unnameable Gods like he still does after all these years.
