I forgot Salems lot the original not the remake and also Misery love that and Shawshank will while not horror forever be one of my fav movies ever. The mist was good, cujo is classic and can't wait to see if the Dark Tower is made into a series or sequence of movies.
Stephen King books hands down. There is just somethng about the way you write the gore, and fear in a book that the movie does no justice for. Especially how in the books every detail no matter how insignificant it is, is paid close attention to and brings forth the true horror!
Not a Stephen King fan???? How is that possible? Seroiusly though, who's writing do you, like? I've read all the SK books and am always looking for a new writer that I will like. Koonz is hit or miss (with more miss) for me.
Answer to the question, books. Best books The Stand and IT. Best book to movie The Mist. I like all his books and movies though.
SALEMS LOT - MINISERIES with David Soul, James Mason by TOBE HOOPER from TEXAS CHAINSAW.
THE SHINING- BOOK.
I could swear in some of his books that a Ghost Writer is finishing them. Some of them, the style changes partway through the book and doesnt seem to match. He has some great stuff but NOT EVERYTHING is a gem. Just my opinion, nothing to start a shootout about. Back up slowly, lol.
I read The Girl Who Loves Tom Gordon, or whatever the hell the title is, and thought, this sucks. It was just about a fuckin lost kid. Thats it, that's the whole story. No werewolves, no vampiers, demons, whitches curses and the list gos on. I'll tell that same story it a few word, it's not summery, its the whole version with the boring part took out.
The Girl Who Loved whats his face--
A girls stays back to piss or something, girl gets lost, girl saw cow thinking it was a monster, girl found. THE END
I cannot beleive stephen king wrot that, you know, I think he did, if he didn't my bad. All of his books are a five star rating books, That book disapointed me.
OK....i've own and have read EVERY SINGLE KING BOOK he's ever written, as well as his short stories, and have seen all the movies. most of the movies tend to fall flat compared to his books. you asked about IT. the beginning of the movie, if i recall, is Georgie chasing his sail boat along the sewer line when it goes down, he sees the clown and the clown grabs him.....from there, if you've read the book, you know what happened. and his brother does tell his friends what had happened to Georgie. if you haven't read the book....the rest is up to your imagination. i hated the ending of CUJO bc Tad died in the book, but not in the movie. the earlier KING books/stories to movies were pretty good. in the 90's they started becoming more about what you were able to do in a movie, and less about the story itself...hence the disappointment of THE LAWNMOWER MAN.
personally, THE TALISMAN was my favorite KING book, which he co-wrote with PETER STRAUB, and later came BLACK HOUSE, which was sort of a sequel to THE TALISMAN, but not quite. those i would love to see made into movies. and if you have the courage to dive into the DARK TOWER series, than you better start reading ALL of the KING books, i believe starting with EYE OF THE DRAGON and read everything written after that. most of his books after that are connected to the DARK TOWER SERIES in some way so to fully understand the last 2 DARK TOWER BOOKS, you have to make sure you have caught all the other links in all his other books that pertain to it, such as FROM A BUICK 8, INSOMNIA, HEARTS OF ATLANTIS, THE TALISMAN, BLACKHOUSE and many more. also, in his short story collection EVERYTHING'S EVENTUAL, the story THE LITTLE SISTERS OF ELURIA, is chapter from the DARK TOWER SERIES, that is never printed in any of the DARK TOWER novels. KING wrote many of his books to connect to the DARK TOWER series, which he hails as his LIFE'S WORK. so when he said he retired, he actually meant that he finally finished the DARK TOWER series, he finished his greatest masterpiece. if you have any other questions, let me know, but ALWAYS, ALWAYS, read the book first!!!!!
Guess I wont be reading THE DARK TOWER then. Thanks for the heads up. Dont really have the inclination to devote time to reading every book he has written.
