Zombie books

I don't really know of many zombie books...unfortunately, or else I would have as many as I could get my hands on. But I do(also another unfortunate) have some of the Resident Evil series, they are about zombies, but would I recommend them?...I dunno

I'm pushing Monster Island, Monster Nation, and Monster World by David Wellington these days. Smart Zombies!

Skipp and Spector's Book of the Dead was a damned good read. It's a collection of short stories by various authors, all taking Romero's original NotLD as a starting point, and running in whichever direction they could with it.

There was a sequel, as well, though I can't recommend it, simply 'cause I never managed to track it down and read it m'self.

The sequel to Book Of The Dead was alright but It didn't have the same punch as the original. You can get copies on ebay. Also if your looking for really good zombie novels check out The Rising and City Of The Dead by Brian Keene

They are awesome books.

You happen to recall if any of the stories/characters from the first book were followed up on in the second?

Now that I think about it, though, damned few human protagonists survived in the first book, did they?

No It Was An All New Set Of Short Stories.

It Was A Good Read But To Me Just Not As Great as The First.

Ah well. I'll have to track it down at the library, if I can. Still Dead was the title, wasn't it?

Aside: My poor copy of the original is rapidly becoming a zombie book; the frigging thing is disintegrating like a walking corpse. Half the pages have fallen loose from the binding.

You are sooooo correct. It took me a long time to land my own copy. A lot of the writers in there show up in the yearly MAMMOTH BOOK OF HORROR. My personal favorite Joe R. Lansdale delivers a wicked post-apocolyptic zombie story in BOOK OF THE DEAD that was (had to have been) ripped off in the new Dawn of the Dead movie extras.

I didn't even think of looking for books about zombies unless it was a novelization of a movie i.e. Night of the living dead.. but I do have the whole series of books from thr Resident Evil games and the 2 movies. I prefer the books from the games. The author did a book in between each of the ones that are derived right from the games.
