Cheesy or not, what makes them good is the fact that there are artists out there that are willing to create a work that is not exploited by the MPAA for ratings and profits. A lot of the indy film makers finance their own projects, by the way....

I love the fact that there are indy film makers. I don't have the talent that it takes to make a film, but it is my opinion that 90 of what comes out of Hollywood is cheesy bull crap...

I'd say 50% of Hollywood is crap and the other 50% is cool.Did you know they made a Return Of The Living Dead 4&5 independently and they were terrible I wouldn't consider them apart of the Return Of The Living Dead franchise. Then you got Night Of The Living Dead(1968) it was independent but it was a classic I never get tired of it.The old independent horror movies were better.I consider Uwe Boll's film's based on video games as well as independent they were a disgrace to the video games. All I'm saying is very few independent horror movie's are any good. And sometimes whats the difference of some independent and some big Hollywood picture's some of it is bull S**T.Independent film directors should not make film's should based on any book, comic, video game, etc.I saw a trailer for a indy version of Resident Evil they look like there was no effert to make that film.

How are these people being exploited when the MPAA ratings system is completely voluntary?

I actually say about 85 of the indy stuff rocks. The biggest problem is either they distribute themselves, or get a bum deal with distributors, and ALOT of people never even hear of the films, let alone get to see them.

That's the biggest problem with indy films...getting the word out. That's one of the biggest reasons my partner and I started Cinema Eulogies. To help out the indy filmakers with spreading the word of their films. It's ashame that alot of the indy films are better than Hollywood films, and people don't even know about them.

75 of most things are crap. But I find that most budget-challenged horror movies still have some redeeming qualities, even if they didn't have the money to match their amibtions.

If that's the case then I'd lik to find out how to access some of these films because I spend a lot of time slogging through really bad indipendent films to find the rare gems. I't been my experiance that even less than 25 of indies are good, but it's worth watching all the crap to find the truly great ones.

That is a tall order.

50% of Hollywood is decent? I BEG TO DIFFER.

75% of indy films are BS? Yeah, maybe even higher...there is a lot of stuff out there that few people on these boards have even scratched. Indy pretty much means any group of 13 year olds with a camera.

I have a lot of movies that I go back to again and again, but I really think it is about 1/1,000,000th of the actual number of films out there.

I say only 5% of any film (independent or domestic)is worth a second look. The problem is that I am always looking for that 5% and I wind out saeeing a lot of trash in the process.

1 out of 4, I'd take those numbers.

So would I, but I don't think that they are accurate.
