Whether you love him or hate him, you know that King Diamond has carved his niche into the metal scene. I am a fan of him, having listened to him since I first saw the video for Welcome Home on Headbangers Ball back in 1988... Shortly thereafter I was introduced to Mercyful Fate with the album Don't Break the Oath.
Up until that point, my main metal influences included Guns 'N Roses (yes, Guns 'n Roses is metal to a 12 year old), Metallica, Megadeth, Exodus (remember when they were good? Bonded By Blood?), etc. I had never really heard any European black metal....
Anyhow, if I had to choose, I would definitely listen to Mercyful Fate over King Diamond, but I love the stories in the King Diamond Albums, and I love how they have all been relating to each other over the past few records....
Anyhow, whether you love him or you hate him, vent your opinions here. And watch out for Them... I'm going to have a cup of tea.
