What do you think the modern-day movie needs to add a little more scare into it? Sure, Silent Hill spooked all of us, and so did The Ring, but right now, horror movies just coming out are crumbling to the ground!
Sculpt that perfect horror-movie to a gracious form, please. Everyone.

i think they lack those really big scares...that desparatley chilling moment where you are about to soil your pants

What they need to do is hire capable screen writers and directors that understand how to develop plot lines and characters. Also....scares do not come from CGI effects and over the top gore. You have to build tension in the scenes without giving away the story

I agree, there just isn't enough blood or effects to cover bad story lines and lack of atmospher.

Everything should be a little off. The hospital staff should be too nice. The towns people should be to active. That feeling you get when you leave the house and it is not about to rain, but there is no sun and the world seems to dark. CGI is to clean, the digital world has not mastered dirt yet.

originality would help,..it seems more often i watch a new movie and it's a lame rehash of a much better quality film,..there is a reason that the late 70's and 80's were the best time for horror and that's because there was EFFORT put behind the making of these films !
they were written ,directed and filmed BY people who actually LOVED making them,..not by some uninterested hack the studios hired to grind out a film for a quick doller return.,.NO cgi, all effects were done hands on !,latex and camera angles,..instead of inhancing the quality of films "CGI" is giving studios and film makers a lazy way out.
simply look at the cheese the sci-fi network pushs off as horror,..they should change their name to the ALL CGI network.
