Just got my new Rosetta Stone - Spanish program today. A little pricey, but it was discounted & I am getting another $50 rebate with my bank card. Still not cheap.
Everyone here speaks Spanish! And I mean EVERYBODY! There is even a Spanish church across the street from my house. I figure it would be in my best interest to learn the language.
I have tried taking classes & did not like the teaching methods in other words, just didn't pick up on it. This looks like you learn like when you first learned to talk. So I plan to give this my best shot & if I am dilligent & spend a few hours a day on it hopefully I will learn!
Has anyone else tried Rosetta Stone? What did you think?
Too late now for me if people say it's no good as I have already invested the money-now just have to invest the time!
I will let you guys know if I am successful or not.
Has anyone tried Rosetta Stone to learn a new language?
if it works or helps defo let me know & let me know how its all going learning spanish
I have an idea for you once you are learning try watching some good spanish films to test your skills watch cool horror films like cronos/devils backbone/REC & stuff like that
i would love to understand Korean then i could watch some of my favourite films without needing subtitles
Re: Has anyone tried Rosetta Stone to learn a new language?
I've always wondered if this worked. Never knew anyone that's tried it. I'm very curious to hear all about it Liz!!
Re: Has anyone tried Rosetta Stone to learn a new language?
LOL. My friend is bringing me Rosetta Stone in Spanish also. I am of Spanish and Puerto Rican ancestry but English has always been my first language. I speak Spanish conversationally but can only read it by using phonetics and I cant write it. I used to be able to speak, read and write French fluently but that fell by the wayside as I never had French speaking friends and for the past 20 years, I havent spoken much Spanish so for me, Rosetta Stone is just to rebuild something or re-awaken something I already learned and forgot so it should be easier. I am thinking of picking up the French as well. My friends here are from all over the world but we always speak English. Have friends that speak Polish, Hebrew, Italian, Philipino and Spanish.

I have always wanted to learn Russian....or Welsch.....I am fluent in Aramaic......and bullshitting!
Re: Has anyone tried Rosetta Stone to learn a new language?
LMAO. . . . . . . evidently you are fluent in bullshitting !
Re: Has anyone tried Rosetta Stone to learn a new language?
a friend of mine had sent me some copies of his, it was Chinese. I myself at least for Chinese didn't think it helped much at all to learn it. I learned more from a disk called Chinese for dummies. Maybe for Spanish it will be easier but as far as I'm concerned it's not as easy as they make it.
Re: Has anyone tried Rosetta Stone to learn a new language?
Chinese is supposed to be the hardest language on the planet to learn. Im not surprised that anything other than classroom instruction could help.
Re: Has anyone tried Rosetta Stone to learn a new language?
I heard their are like 250 or some wild assed number of dialects in Chinese
Re: Has anyone tried Rosetta Stone to learn a new language?
I might have to learn Bosnian...we arre having a lot of Bosnians move out our way....

Will be installing my new language program on the computer today to start my lessons. Have been so busy with the therapists with Mom-she is improving a great rate. So will now have a little more time to devote to my new language! Funny how I wouldn't dream of moving to a country & expect them to learn my language, but everyone that moves here expects us to learn theirs! I thought English was the official language of America! All this poitical correctness gets carried way to far!
