Shivers
Director David Cronenberg's first feature film revels in his pet theme: exposing deep-rooted fears of our bodies and our sexuality. A scientist unleashes a sexually transmitted parasite that destroys inhibitions in its host body. Shivers tests nerves with its wormlike parasites (in one gruesome sequence, they attack a woman in a bathtub). A terrifying portrait of the id gone mad.
